Democrat Myth: RUSSIA HAS NO FRIENDS! HERO BIDEN HAS ISOLATED IT!

Yesterday, U.S. Coast Guard cutter USCGC Kimball intercepted a large, joint Sino-Russian naval battle group operating off the coast of Alaska. The Coast Guard reinforced the Kimball with air assets and the formation dispersed and withdrew.

“While the formation has operated in accordance with international rules and norms, we will meet presence with presence to ensure there are no disruptions to U.S. interests in the maritime environment around Alaska,” Rear Adm. Nathan Moore, 17th Coast Guard District commander said.

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-nav ... ka-island/

Note that cutter Kimball would be utterly and completely outgunned by a formation of 7 Sino-Russian naval vessels. She's only equipped to battle small, close surface threats and engage in anti-submarine warfare. The closest serious reinforcements is the Royal Canadian Navy at Esquimalt which would take days to arrive.

One US Coast Guard ship (with support) disperses this "mighty" fleet? WoW. :D :o

Over 194,000 Russians flee call-up to neighboring countries
By Associated Press
September 27, 2022 at 3:29 p.m. EDT

TALLINN, Estonia — It took Vsevolod four days to drive from Moscow to Russia’s southern border with Georgia. He had to abandon his car at one point and continue on foot.

On Tuesday, he finally finished his 1,800-kilometer (1,100-mile) journey and crossed the frontier to escape being called up to fight in Russia's war in Ukraine.

“At 26, I do not want to be carried home in a zinc-lined (coffin) or stain (my) hands with somebody’s blood because of the war of one person that wants to build an empire,” he told The Associated Press, asking that his last name not be used because he feared retaliation from Russia.

He was one of over 194,000 Russian nationals who have fled to neighboring Georgia, Kazakhstan and Finland — most often by car, bicycle or on foot — in the week since President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization of reservists.

The mass exodus of men — alone or with their families or friends — began Sept. 21, shortly after Putin’s address to the nation, and continued all this week. Early on, they snapped up airline tickets, which spiked in price on the few airlines still flying out of Russia. But the rest had to gas up their cars and join the long lines snaking on roads toward the borders.

According to the online service Yandex Maps, the traffic jam leading to Verkhny Lars, a border crossing into Georgia from Russia’s North Ossetia region, stretched for about 15 kilometers (over 9 miles) on Tuesday. Social media showed hundreds of pedestrians lining up at the checkpoint after Russian border guards relaxed regulations and allowed people to cross on foot.

Similarly long queues were reported at some crossings into Kazakhstan.

Things are getting worse for saxi and his buddy putin:

“The Ukrainian flag is already in Lyman, Donetsk region. Fighting is still going on there. But there is no trace of any pseudo-referendum there,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his nightly address Saturday.

(...)

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have inflicted damage on Ukrainian forces in battling to hold Lyman, but said outnumbered Russian troops were withdrawn to more favorable positions. Ukrainian forces moved into the city and Zelenskyy’s chief of staff posted photos of a Ukrainian flag being hoisted on the town’s outskirts.

Lyman had been an important link in the Russian front line for ground communications and logistics. Located 160 kilometers southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, it’s in the Donetsk region near the border with Luhansk, two regions that Russia annexed Friday, Sept. 30.

Things are about to get a lot worse for the Ukes. Biden can send as much money as he wants but it's getting to the point there are no more weapons left for them to buy. Doesn't matter how much money they have, they can't buy what doesn't exist.

One of America’s leading military analysts has warned that NATO forces could run out of weapons to supply Ukraine in the coming months. In an interview with UnHerd, Patrick Fox told Freddie Sayers that US suppliers could not keep up with Ukrainian demand, with up to 18 month wait times for vital munitions.

“This is a problem,” stated Fox. “US generals are worried about their own ability to wage war in the event of a crisis given the level of drawdown we are seeing.” Noting that the shortage for certain stock like 155 shells was so severe, Fox said that generals were raising the issue with Congress. “It’s also happening with HIMARS rockets,” he said.

    https://unherd.com/thepost/could-the-we ... f-weapons/

In 10 days, 300,000 fresh Russian troops enter the conflict. Also in 10 days, zero fresh Uke troops enter the conflict (they're already 100% committed, there's no one else to send).

Is the popular support for putin's "special military action"? It seems not, and that lack of support COULD be the undoing of putin. The losses by the Russian military is causing even less support, too. This is not over, but certainly saxi must agree that this did not go as pukin' putin and saxi planned. Things have not gone well; Kyiv is still in control by Ukrainians and they have put up LOTS of resistance to the vaunted Russian military.

The atrocities committed by the Russians merely cause Ukrainians to stiffen their resolve; they have not had the same effect as in other previous campaigns in more isolated parts of the world and and former Soviet Empire. The US military and monetary assistance have caused putin LOTS of pain and heartache.

Wasn't the Russian government's plan to take control of the Eastern regions that they've just taken control of?

That's the standard response to atrocities tbf. Even the much praised American nuclear atrocities in Japan couldn't break Japanese spirit, people don't respond well to that sort of behaviour.

I disagree. Japan surrendered within days after the 2nd atomic bomb, in effect, sparing MILLIONS of lives of Japanese and up to hundreds of thousands of Americans (and Russians, too) who would have INVADED the nation to bring about surrender.

And they Russian did send troops from the North toward Kyiv, RIGHT? Wasn't that an armor column? to capture Kyiv? Or was that merely a distraction? A brilliant military move?

After the first nuke Japan didn't even bother convening its war council, with its government's leaders agreeing to hold out for the result of negotiations being mediated by the USSR. Then a week later the USSR betrayed Japan and attacked them, and all of a sudden the Japanese government was scrambling to discuss unconditional surrender.

Ultimately the wanton slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians by the US Air Force was an entirely unnecessary and pointless dick waving display. Those responsible should have been sat in the docks at the Nuremberg Trials, not given medals.

Doesn't change the fact their goal was to take control of the east, not all of Ukraine.

Peace does not mean surrender. This is simply more bad logic (or lack thereof) by saxi.

He is also attempting to distract from how badly the WAR, I mean Special Military Action, is going in Ukraine for his Russian buddies.

And now the Russians are LOSING territories that they have claimed to annex in the EAST. That is not going well either. FIRE those Russian commanders. Better yet, KILL THEM ALL. Are they achieving their goal?

And I must be RIGHT about the Atomic Bomb ULTIMATELY saving LIVES, softSillyRalph. The Russian invasion of a few islands in the North of Japan was the LAST STRAW for the Japanese, desperate to "save face" and NOT surrender. That surrender, greatly prompted by TWO Atomic bombs, avoided unneeded massacre of many MILLIONS of Japanese, including civilians, during an ALL OUT invasion of Japan. Let's do the math, 200,000 (approximately) in two cities vs. 1,000,000 or MANY more dead Japanese over many regions of Japan. Hmmm.....NO need for a trial. Bombing of two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, saved lives.

Your anti-American sentiments are CLEARLY showing its ugly face again, ralph.

And I further argue that the REALIZATION of the incredibly destructive nature of the two relatively small Atomic Bombs has kept the USE of Atomic Bombs OUT Of future conflicts SINCE 1945, saving EVEN more lives. Look up MAD, the main thinking for much of the Cold War, ralph. We Americans and Japanese appreciate and understand the TERRIBLE nature of these weapons; the Japanese who suffered and died are PROOF of their terrible destruction and the horrors of nuclear weapons.

They already controlled most of the Donbass and Luhansk regions. In some cases, they now control less of those regions than they do now.

Putin's plan, which he has never made a secret of of, is to restore the Soviet empire to its former glory. That means retaking all of the breakaway republics. With what he perceived as weakness in Kiev, Putin figured he could strike a quick knockout blow and retake Ukraine in its entirety, or at least reduce it to a puppet state. With the largest and most powerful of the breakaway republics tamed, he figured the majority of the small ones would be easy to digest.

In that respect he has already failed. Although I suspect he will still win this war in the end, he has allowed the illusion of the Soviet Renaissance to die. Russia is now seen as merely a regional power, not the superpower it has imagined itself to be. Forcing the remaining republics to kowtow to Moscow will be harder now, rather than easier. Even if Kiev eventually falls, resistance everywhere else will be strengthened.

I see Ukraine's resistance to Putin's conquests much like Greece's resistance to Hitler -- although it eventually failed, it shattered the illusion of German invincibility and strengthened the spine of everyone else.

Obviously there are different opinions of the eventual outcome. I think some Ukrainians think that Russia, even if they fail in this war, will try again. The determination of the Ukrainian people has shattered Russian overconfidence in its military. Putin and Russia's brutal tactics of attacking civilians, hospitals, schools, and inflicting massive civilian casualties and destroying many buildings and infrastructure has not won the war to date. Donations of weapons from the West, mostly by the USA, is a KEY factor, along with the will and determination of the Ukrainian people.

Duk is correct in that many of the Eastern regions were already in the hands of Pro-Russian persons already living there. The same happened years ago in Crimea; Russia, I think under the Tsars, moved many ethnic Russians into the region to gain a foothold and support for Russian occupation.

One of the most significant images at the start of the war was that of many women gathering to make bandages for the future wounds of its soldiers, husbands, brothers, fathers, and sons. Those men who are not fighters, such as musicians and artists, gave of their other skills and talents, such as in logistics, to help the war effort. That show of determination by many and most Ukrainians to resist the Russian invasion was and still is impressive.

It is obvious that Ukraine has resources that Russia craves, Crimea and its warm weather and beaches and ports is one; Ukraine is famous for its fields of grain to feed many peoples. This reminds me of sorts of Southern Italy, with similar resources, but not very wealthy compared to surrounding regions.

President Zalenskyy, with his TV background, is the RIGHT man to be President and Leader of Ukraine. His public persona and statements have encouraged the West, mostly the USA, to invest HUGE amounts of money and war materiel into Ukraine. He has inspired his people and allows the Military Leaders to lead without much interference. In times of conflict, crises and threats, weapons makers do well; OBVIOUSLY. His wife is also a good spokesperson for Ukraine; both are telegenic and project a good image for their nation. His refusal to leave Ukraine at the start of the war was ALSO the RIGHT move and gained respect of the West. He is in this to defend Ukraine and NOT to get personally rich from this conflict. He is obviously risking life, fortune, and sacred honor.

The comparison to Greece by Duk is fitting; I hope the outcome is different.

Meanwhile, in real and actual news:

The Washington Post
Annexations show the depth of Putin’s imperial delusion

On the ground, Russia’s war effort is reeling. Ukrainian forces accelerated their advances on territories occupied by Russian troops and their separatist proxies, liberating towns in the southern Kherson region while also moving toward Luhansk in the east. After taking back Russian-controlled areas in the northeast Kharkiv region in a lightning campaign last month, Ukraine is hoping to remove Russia’s last footholds north and west of the Dnieper River, which will cripple the Kremlin’s already-waning ability to mount its own campaign on the strategic Ukrainian port of Odesa.

“The Ukrainian armed forces commanders in the south and east are throwing problems at the Russian chain of command faster than the Russians can effectively respond,” said a Western official who briefed my colleagues about sensitive security information on the condition of anonymity. “And this is compounding the existing dysfunction within the Russian invasion force.”

Morale and unit cohesion among the Russian brigades on the front are in tatters, with Ukrainian strikes on Russian ammunition and supply depots exacting a critical toll. At home, it’s getting equally grim. Some estimates found that 700,000 people — about 1 out of every 200 Russians — left the country in the space of less than two weeks since President Vladimir Putin ordered a “partial mobilization” of troops to reinforce his faltering invasion.

The current state of play follows the Ukrainian recapture over the weekend of the city of Lyman, a key transit hub in eastern Donetsk.

So Russian operatives stir up a few protestors looking to protest SOMETHING. What is the significance? So some people oppose a war? Really? Tell us something important.

What about the bridge that was heavily damage that supports Russians in Crimea? That is significant. Happy Birthday to pukin' putin, war criminal.

Blast damages Crimea bridge, key supply route in Russia's war in Ukraine

An explosion caused the partial collapse of a bridge linking the Crimean Peninsula with Russia on Saturday, damaging a key supply artery for the Kremlin's faltering war effort in southern Ukraine. Russian authorities said a truck bomb caused the blast and that three people were killed.

Images on social media Saturday showed the Kerch Bridge, which has train and automobile sections, in flames. The railway bridge was ablaze and a section of the parallel road bridge collapsed into the sea.

The bombing came a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin turned 70, dealing him a humiliating blow that could lead him to up the ante in his war on Ukraine. One military analyst called it a punch in the face for Putin on his birthday, CBS News' Charlie D'Agata reports.

The answer is “as many as necessary”.

If you think Biden has any significant ability to change US or Western Policy you are mistaken.

He maybe can move the dial slightly, but if he upsets his Handlers too much they can just unleash other actions (protests, media responses, ‘accidents’) to control or limit his behavior in a more coercive manner.

He might be a “Hack” or do a “hack job”… but he ain’t no Hacker.

If you call someone a hack, you mean they're not great at what they do — especially writing. A mediocre writer is called a hack. Once upon a time hack was short for “an ordinary horse,” and now it's an insult for writers.
