The half-dozen people that have posted their hatred for new maps over and over again may seem like "most people", but it's just because they manage to post the same thing over and over until they seem like a crowd. The quiet majority would prefer to have more variety rather than less.
actually, yes, i would rather go to a restaurant with a one page menu than a ten page menu. i would rather go to best buy for my electronics, and giant eagle for my groceries rather than wal mart for both.
see, my feeling is that the restaurant with only 10 items on the menu specialize in those 10 items. i guarantee the food is fresher, and the chefs know exactly how to make those 10 items better than the other restaurant that has 100 items.
pretty much, half the maps on this site suck dick. they are poorly done, and dont represent the site as they should.
but who i am i? i dont know, maybe someone who has seen this site go from a lot of players to fewer players. i remember when there were 100 maps, and there were a lot more players.
just sayin. having 300 maps is gay.
What if the menu just had one page of teeny tiny pictures of their dishes, sorted alphabetically by where it came from? And if you wanted to know what was in it, they just handed you a larger picture of the dish. And then they stopped serving your favorite dish, just because some other people didn't like it. Would you go to that restaurant?
And if Best Buy and Giant Eagle sold only the 10 most popular products, would you shop there, or at Walmart?
This is not a restaurant - the maps you like don't get better or worse just because there are other maps available. Nobody leaves just because a crappy new map is added. But if the interface is so poorly designed that they can't find what they want, or they get bored with the current choices, then they'll leave. Every map has people that want to play it, so if you remove any of them, it will only make more people leave. If they improved the map browser, it would not matter how many maps they have.
