Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
How do we like his as a title?
Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
I can handle the title area, but how will it stand out when you color that non-playable area?

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Ok I finally have all the necessary information right there on the map. How are we digging this?
Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Okay, so after looking this over and reviewing the supersize application, I do hereby stamp this!

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
I like the font. It suits the map.
The new legend also looks great.
Small nitpick - on Cairo & Luxor, the leftmost red stripe seems to be a bit too much to the left, considering the intervals within the others...
Also, I think you could do some kind of dark glow around the land, about 4-8 pixels wide, and blurred... to define the land/sea transition a bit more, you know?
Other than that, things are looking real good here.

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Quick thoughts:
- I like the new font: very legible.
- "Independent" is misspelled in the legend.
- Using a different colour for the landing territory names is a nice idea, but would be better if it were different from those of the European powers, especially if it could also be used in the legend explaining the landing territories.
- Guinea Bissau may need a little line from the name to the territory; the relationship wasn't immediately clear.
- The mini-map should show Egypt with stripes.

Hm, maybe something like a very light blue, like #dfeafb: ██████████████████ender516 wrote:Using a different colour for the landing territory names is a nice idea, but would be better if it were different from those of the European powers, especially if it could also be used in the legend explaining the landing territories.

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Just so long as it can be visible against the non-playable territory background in the legend (north of the Caspian Sea). A black glow might be sufficient to make that work.
On another topic, I think the word "of" should be moved out of the cartouche containing the word "AFRICA" and placed just below the word "Colonization". It will provide a nice symmetry with the word "The", and "AFRICA" would look better by itself, I think. The cartouche could also be stretched/squashed to match the size of the word "AFRICA" more closely.

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Excellent! Though I think I should mention that the dimensions I'm using now are slightly smaller that what I requested in the super-size application.Okay, so after looking this over and reviewing the supersize application, I do hereby stamp this!
I think I need to redo all the stripes.Small nitpick - on Cairo & Luxor, the leftmost red stripe seems to be a bit too much to the left, considering the intervals within the others...
That could look cool. I'll give it a try. Also, I think you could do some kind of dark glow around the land, about 4-8 pixels wide, and blurred... to define the land/sea transition a bit more, you know?
Oops."Independent" is misspelled in the legend.
Agreed.Guinea Bissau may need a little line from the name to the territory; the relationship wasn't immediately clear.
Just slipped my attention. Next update will have that for sure. The mini-map should show Egypt with stripes.

We'll see. I definitely see where you are coming from, but it may be a lot trickier than it seems to actually pull that off and have it look good.On another topic, I think the word "of" should be moved out of the cartouche containing the word "AFRICA" and placed just below the word "Colonization". Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
Sorry if this has been mentioned in this thread already, I didn't read all 23 pages, but 'Spainish Morocco' should be 'Spanish Morocco', right?

Oh my bad I forgot to add the line connecting the text and territory of Guinea-Bissau. Next update.

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
In regards to the legend text at the top, it looks like you might be inconsistent with the capitalization of "Can/can".
You could also possibly change the first text to: Egypt can be colonized by the both British and Ottoman Empires

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
I wonder if "either ... or ..." would be more to the point than "both ... and ...".

Re: Colonial Africa New graphic updates!
1. the ottoman empire or at least the portion that you created on the map was not an european power. in fact the ottoman terit that you have there is entirely in asia. so labeling it as a european power is wrong
2. all colonizing countries must have the same flag backgrounds as the landing territories for easier recognition. i can say which flag belongs to what country but maybe others can't.
