All single players will be divided into teams randomly.

Update: Due to only getting 26 teams, I'm going to follow the same format. It will only consist of 6 groups of 4, with 2 being 5. We'll just work down the list of maps until we are done.

I'm a bit confused about the rules.

The way I'm seeing it, there will be the following number of teams each round: 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Based on this, there are 23 rounds.... am I misreading? If not, why are there 36 maps?

The way I'm seeing it, there will be a 16-team round robin in Division A, and a 16-team round robin in Division B. After 45 games per team, you'll eliminate the weakest team in each division. Then, there will be a 15-team round robin in Division A, and a 15-team round robin in Division B. This means the winning team will play a total of (15+14+13+12+11+10+9+8+15+14+13+12+11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1)*3= 636 quads games. Again, am I misreading this?

My first thought on seeing the format was "<unprintable>, this is gonna take a while..." But yes, my understanding mirrors yours.

I didn't do the math, but if you guys are right, do you know how many years it will take for this to finish playing out doing (1) 3-game set at a time?........decades, literally.
Playing 45 games in the first round alone will take a year minimum...probably closer to 2 years. Quads games are notoriously slow.

Now that I re-read the set up, this is the way I read it too. If this is true, please remove our team from the tournament... way too many games for me.

As others have mentioned, you need to clarify the structure of the tournament. Tournaments are supposed to be designed so that they will finish in 1 year. The way I'm reading your setup, this tournament doesn't even attempt to do that.

I thought ubc was exaggerating a tad, so i did some more math. At 3 months for each "set", the approximate run time is 53 years. if you could cram that down to a month per set, it becomes only ~18 years. ...still a trifle long. :lol:

I love Round Robin, but it does take time. PM sent to TheMissionary with some ideas.

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was in a hurry when I posted the tournament as I had a deadline. I am currently working on reworking the format to make it less games and right number of games/maps per round.

Ok, I think i have it worked out. I added 4 teams and made the format faster. I think all in all it should be 12 rounds. If anyone see's anything wrong please let me know via PM.

Ok, I bolded the relevant numbers that I edited from dowians reading with the current format. (and ignoring the last sentence of 3 games every round-since it's 1 game per team for the first two 6 team RR stages.

I don't think this is too bad?

Either way, I'm in with a team of maasman, leapfrog and lequeen, since this does seem manageable.

Basically, it's 6 teams in 6 groups for the first stage, and then 6 teams with 2 groups for the second, with still only 1 game played against the other teams. (with teams dropping out at the end of each 'round' until there are 2 left in the group?)
And then in the final group there's 4 teams, with 3 games played against each of the 3 teams?

However, I'm not so certain you'll get 36 quads teams within the month? it's still 144 players, so just check how quickly other recent quad team tournaments have filled?

Thats correct. I will keep an eye on the teams and once things slow down I might allow individuals to sign up for random teams.
