BREAKING NEWS
INDIANAPOLIS-- The NCAA has issued its preseason Top 25 coaches' poll, and at the same time has requested its coaches stop drinking when they vote. NCAA president Mark Emmert could only hold his head in his hands when told Louisiana Tech not only topped the rankings, but received 90 percent of the first-place votes.
"This is embarrassing," Emmert said. "I knew the coaches all got together to vote, but I didn't think alcohol would be involved."
Emmert then broke down in tears when told San Jose State was ranked ninth. Other highlights include Toledo ranked seventh, Vanderbilt ranked second and SMU third. Conspicuously absent from the Top 25 is defending NCAA champion Auburn.
The coaches gathered at a Las Vegas hotel last week for voting. The NCAA knew something was amiss when Oregon coach Chip Kelly tweeted "LOL just voted Army #1. GO BLACK KNIGHTS LOL" during the meetings. Minutes later, Texas coach Mack Brown tweeted "Jack Daniels rulz. Totally going 3-9 this yr."
Emmert said the NCAA is meeting this week to discuss changes to the voting system. None of the coaches have commented on the rankings, although some have said they don't remember voting at all.
