Game VS computer = trying new maps
WHy don't we have the opportunity to play new maps VS computer?
It could be nice to try map without risking our rank points VS a regular player...
Is that already been discussed? Cause I didn't found anything about that...
Thanks in advance

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
it has been discussed before, and its a suggestion that is not going to be implemented
i agree it was hard to find. I had to go for the words play against the computer and look through 3 pages. Its been a dead idea for a long while now.

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
I've designed my own AI. If anybody is interested in working with this, let me know - I pm'ed lack about a month ago and got no response.
Looks like a precedent has been set, but that thread doesn't do justice to the suggestion, IMO. The main argument against it that I read in this thread is "people will farm the computer AI". Of course to avoid this, any games against a computer AI would have to be practice only, no points changing hands.
Let me know if Team CC is interested.

I'm pretty sure they won't be interested, unfortunately. CC seems to have an aversion against practice games without points on the line.

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
There are a lot of risk like computer programs out there. I guess you could use them to play something alike conquerclub. I do not think CC is interrested in making an off site computergame, this site being about social contact and stuff.
But if you want to persue this idea, i suggest you take it to the suggestion forum and try to get some support for it..

Lackattack has his PM's turned off to prevent being bombarded. If you want to contact Lackattack, you can contact myself or you can open up an e-ticket to the General Inquiries Dept, where messages pertaining to him are forwarded to his possession.FarangDemon wrote:I've designed my own AI. I'd like to have a look on it if possible. let me know how to get it.FarangDemon wrote:I've designed my own AI. If anybody is interested in working with this, let me know - I pm'ed lack about a month ago and got no response.

Of course, no points exchanged in practice...
The main idea of that post was to practice on CC map we didn't know. Alike CC game doesn't count...SirSebstar wrote:There are a lot of risk like computer programs out there. But if you want to persue this idea, i suggest you take it to the suggestion forum and try to get some support for it..
So I want to be clear on what I meant, and because it has already been discussed :
- Play game against computer is PRACTICE ONLY and u can't earn point or loose points... If u play to earn and loose points, then play against real players.
- I understand that CC doesn't want to much practice cause AI doesn't get premium account so, for business, it's better to have only real players.
- So practice against AI could be on a different tab named practice when u can play only like 5 times any map (and set ur own settings). Once u play 5 times one map, u can't play it anymore on practice. So that avoid people who will play only AI for weeks. ANd that keeps the business going for CC....
- That also give the opportunity for low players to practice map before challenging the best players on CC. And challenging is what CCadmin want on their site. No?
- SO often, people who try to play maps like lunar, feudal, AOR (or that kind of map which need a special tactic), they play against used players and they never go after round 5 or 6 and they don't know why they loose or what to do next time to challenge on that map. SO they definitely leave that kind of map and only play "regular maps" (no auto deply, cheap tactics). Then those maps are only played by few people. And CC like challenge on their site, right?
- The only way (except practice) to learn how to play that kind of map is to team with a good player who will teach u but, like fishing spots or mushrooms places, people never tell the best way to do.
So is there any people who think the same than me?

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
just a quick word,
Lack has repeatedly stated he wants no point(less) practice games. Read some more current suggestions, and if you want to garner support i strongly suggest you copy past your suggestion to the suggestions forum. I think you have an idea. To work that idea out is not what the Q&A is meant for, no offence. Its only meant as a question and answer place only.

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
i dont think it would be a good idea. if you want to learn a map you play it. i learn them in one or two games.

Like 40k said. When a new map comes out I usually set up a few 1vs1 no fog games so I can figure it out, a couple of games should be enough to at least have a decent grasp on it.

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
There is one very big problem with playing an AI, even for practice. You take out the human factor. No matter how good an AI is, it will never give you as good a going over as a human opponent.

Re: Game VS computer = trying new maps
There are a few reasons this is not implemented, but the primary one is that it takes a lot of very complex programing to truly make a worthy opponent.DJENRE wrote:WHy don't we have the opportunity to play new maps VS computer?

Even if the programming were implemented, it would take a lot of space to do it for all the maps (or even a few representative ones).
Then you get to what this site is. Its about playing games, but with other people. It's not just about who wins and loses, (though some people care more about points than others), its about the relationships and connections people form.. some friendly, some adversarial, but all part of what this site is.

Even though it has been rejected, this idea has value and I hope that lackattack will revisit it.

if you want to learn how to play a map play it. do some research on the map. it should only take one or to games to learn how to play a map.

I support this suggestion, ONLY if you loose points every time you play vs AI.
However an AI engine would be difficult to code, especially considering the complexities with all of the different maps.

The AI might become conqueror. But seriously, are you saying you would lose points even if you BEAT the AI?blakebowling wrote:I support this suggestion, ONLY if you loose points every time you play vs AI.
Not hard to code freeware already exists for classic, taking it a step further on a per map basis could be done...or...AI could be written for a select few maps as an instructional tool.bb wrote:However an AI engine would be difficult to code, especially considering the complexities with all of the different maps.
