This is a map of the supercontinent Gondwana from around 200 Mya when it was created due to the split of Pangea into Gondwana and Laurasia.
Since there has been some talk of this map but none actually made I though it was a good opportunity to create one. The parts of Gondwana that will eventually become the countries we know today can be seen easily in the supercontinent however i had to brake them up for better gameplay.

I have also added a Island at the top of the map as a sort of gate way between corners of the map. The idea is that no one can hold it, as it is a killer neutral 1, but allows people to get around/adds more borders as you can travel to and from it from specific places on the map(ports). Though humans were no existent at the time i have added bridges and ports to create links over rivers and a way to get to the island. You cannot travel directly between ports but holding all gives a bonus 5. Another way to do this would be to draw natural bridges (fallen trees or something) and water currents/whirlpool type things to get to the island and back.

There is 52 territories + the Island
9 Regions
6 Ports
Rivers, Mountain Ranges, and forests have been added to restrict territory borders
No starting locations

another idea was to have Gondwana one side and the present countries the other side of the map with some sort of link between the two. If you held the matching countries on both sides you would get an extra bonus

Very nice! I echo The Bison King lol. Some small edits/suggestions/comments:
1. Try to put the continent names closer to the continent, or squeeze them in the legend.
2. I suggest having Terror Island be killer neutral 1 to promote its usage more.
3. Bonuses look pretty good, I'll look into it more later.
4. I'm a little concerned some of the smaller territories will be too small for the small version (whew! a lot of smalls!)

Keep up the good work! Looks great!

Dinosaurs... this map needs dinosaurs as decorations though not as gameplay features.

Sun and terra australis could use some differentiation in colors.

Also, submit a design brief.

thx for the suggestions ill get on it. I Feel that the continent names are a bit far from the actual places as well. I Also like the idea of decorating it with Dinosaurs.
I havent made any code yet but I will make Terra Island killer neutral 1
Also, what is a design brief?

I think that blue color you use for the lakes should spread out around the continent. Mirroring how you have it on the mini map.

Also I don't know why Antarctica is listed as Arctic. It really should still be called Antarctica.

that grey area is not the whole of antarctica, the yellow is also part. But that hasn't stopped me in africa/south america so ill take that in to consideration. Initially i didn't want to have the same names as countries today but in the end it was just easier.

well the problem isn't that it isn't called Antarctica but the word "Arctic" Specifically refers to the North poll. I think it's Latin root literally means "Of the North".

That being said I think calling it Antarctica would work fine especially since it calls attention to the fact that Antarctica was once an inhabitable climate (which I think is pretty neat)

TBK's right: Arctic - Of the North, Antarctic - Not of the North/Of the South

Just thought of something: who would be trying taking over Gondwanaland, if there are no humans...? Not that that necessarily matters...

I'm gonna second that. The port in Baci kind of looks landlocked.

oh right, i see your point. And yeah i did mention it being odd that there are no humans but your right it doesn't really matter. An ancient civilisation before ours??

I have another draft with both changes to arctic name and water, i agree it looks better.

A war of dinosaur species! which makes the bridges and ports out of place... also, trees are a horrid excuse for a border, those days the world was lush with trees much taller than today.
Also, why not include Laurasia?

Try to overlook the ports and bridges, imagine its a sort of mythical place. Good point about the trees, however I don't really know what else to put there as i don't want more mountains. Ill do some more research into Gondwana to see if i can come up with something.

I just wanted a map of Gondwana.

Perhaps its migrations of dinosaurs?

In that case, maybe the bridges could be replaced with swamps or marshes or fords. The ships.. I dunno. You could make it a creationist map...

Ok i have had an idea about replacing the trees for a more appropriate blockages.
Instead there could be giant fissures/cracks in the earth between regions (as in evidence of the split between countries coming)
this could only make sense between regions and so ill have to move some blockages around.

Let me know if you think I should change or if trees are fine. If I do change this it might mean changing bridges/boats etc to make the whole map realistic

This looks rather good, and would fill our gaping hole when it comes to dinosaur-based geographic maps. Perhaps do a little bit of text on the map that explains WHAT Gondwanaland is? Most people are not familiar.
