Game settings.
They're chosen to reduce the role luck plays. It won't be chess, but it'll favor skill as much as possible.
Number of players: 3.
Game type: standard.
Maps: the beta maps when the tournament was first posted (except for Das Schloss): Unification Italy, Unification Germany, Flanders 1302, Monsters, Atlantis, and Stalingrad. (Since then Napoleonic Europe and Thyseneal entered beta testing, and Atlantis and Monsters were released; but I'm sticking with the maps listed when players first started signing up.)
Initial troops: automatic.
Play order: sequential.
Spoils: no spoils.
Reinforcements: chained.
Fog of war: yes.
Round length: casual (24 hours).

Membership.
Freemies are welcome but must keep an open slot after applying, and use 1 slot for this tournament only.

Number of tournament games to be played at once.
1.

Number of players.
45 33, with about 18 lieutenants or higher.

Joining.
Post to this thread saying you want to join. If I haven't added you to the player lists below within 24 hours, or you haven't received a confirmation PM/wall message/invitation/reservation, please post again asking to join - I may have missed your request.

Seeding
Based on the score when added to the player lists below. Lowest score player vs middle vs highest. If there is no single middle player, then the player with the lowest score of the two middle players will be seeded above.

Lieutenants or higher will receive byes to the round of 27, unless there aren't enough players for the qualifying games in which case the 1600+ players with the lowest scores will play qualifying games. If there aren't enough 1600+ players, some of the highest scored players below 1600 may get byes.

Advancing to the next round.
Anyone who misses a turn can't go thru unless all the players in a game miss a turn, in which case the last player to miss a turn goes thru. If a player misses a turn and wins, the last player to be eliminated will go thru instead. If you can't play your turn, you may ask someone with a similar score to you, and who isn't in the tournament, nor your opponent in any current game, to play for you which they should announce in game chat per FAQ 17.

Please post to this thread, PM me, or post to my wall when you've won your game so I can quickly set up the next games. I'll check the games myself, but it'll go much quicker if the winner of each game posts here or PMs me.

Changes.
If some of these rules aren't working well, I may try something else and you have to accept the changes. I'll try to be fair tho, and you're always free to challenge and/or suggest something better.

It doesn't look like enough players will sign up, so I may reduce the number of players from 45 to 33, with only 3 qualifying games instead of 9.
After not getting reserves in the required 30 days, I started without, and when mickunited333 didn't show, I requested a replacement at the play-now tournaments - requests for immediate players thread. thunderhue asked to fill the spot - having joined earlier and losing in a qualifying game 2.
