Re: Clan League: Season 2 Order Thread (Weeks 9,10,11,12)

to clear it up for anyone that is still confused:

Execution
  • Season 2 has been approved by admin to be run with game creation rights!(But limited to the Clan Directors)
  • The primary contacts are asked to order games 2 weeks in advance (using a standard format, hopefully aided with an Excel Order Form for those that would like some tools to help with this.), 1 week at the latest and will need to post in the Clan Season 2 Order Thread - All orders are FINAL
  • The Clan Directors will then make the games and send the information to both clans' contacts for that week.
  • The league contact is responsible for tracking their home maps. If you order a repeat map, it will be made into a random map.
  • The league contacts (and clan partners) are all responsible for making sure their clan fills games
  • NO games will be remade
  • Clans will default the game if they put too many players into any game.
  • Clans are asked to fill the games within 1 week. If a clan is late, they will receive a warning the first time. The second time, they will be defaulted for half of the late games (rounded down), and then if it happens a third time, they will be defaulted on all games.

i am guessing they are doing a favor for everyone and are currently accepting games even later than 1 week ... (JP?)

also i dont see any games posted from our opponents this week De Veroveraars der Lage Landen

From day one, we've been lenient and allowed until the day before the week starts. We make the games on Sunday.

If we enforced the rule completely, only a few clans would be left in the league with actual non-random games.

Speaking of randoms maps and late submitting games, I know we've discussed this before but perhaps we should address it again. I guess Marv made a mistake and made all of LoW's games random last week ( at the time we just assumed they [LoW] were late in ordering games which wasn't the case).

Let's just assume that they had been late, why punish the away clans by making all the games random? Shouldn't the default be somewhere along the lines of allowing the away teams to choose maps/settings for that week or something comparable w/out punishing the away team by forcing them to play all random maps/settings ?

The all random was for simplicity of setup, plus away team should not get an advantage.

How is making the setting random penalizing the away team? Surely not being able to pick the home maps is worse for the home team than the away team!

Because you have no idea which teams to put where since you do not know the maps. It is not their fault the home team did not make it in time.

But why is that "penalizing" -- it is just fair. I guess the difference lies in how you perceive random maps, you see them as negatives. whereas, they arent really negatives they are just random (hence fair).

Negative would be forcing me to play Feudal.

Ahh but you see there is part of the problem, with randoms you have no clue which maps will come up thus you could get feudal or some map you may not know. It would be like me saying... yeah let put sjnap, loes, and foxglove in a triples of feudal. Mine as well toss away a game. That is something we would never do, but with randoms it could happen. Randoms were meant to punish the home team, but end up punishing the away team also.

Yes, but by no means to the same extent. Home advantage is all about selecting your strongest players on their favourite maps. Having to play random is more detrimental to the home side than it is to the away team as they lose any advantage they might have (on a random setting the home team may just as well be the away team, so the advantage is lost). That's the point - and to all intents and purposes it works very well.

It's also worth noting that the away team are not being 'penalised' with a random setting, as this is an option that's available to the home team in the first place.

but you may put different triples, be prepared for all the bad scenarios ;)
just as many here, i suck ass on feudal so hard, my mouth hurts. on other hand i can seriously hurt you on New World. so give me one player who knows how to play feudal, someone who doesnt hate North America map, and the three of us will manage in most of the maps... same goes for my standard team partner, lordnex.
so, to a smart man, random is more fixing your teams right way then praying for good map to come out. (and even thou i know this, id always chose my standard team and then pray not to get one out of maybe 5 or 6 maps i would never chose to play...)
also, i would never, ever gave my home field advantage to a random map settings.
