You've foe'd me because you cannot take critcism. How do you ever expect to get a map off the ground with an attitude like that? I had already stated I wasn't trying to be rude, we're here to help. But as you seemed to ignore everything I had been saying I decided to tell you what I thought in plain text rather than guiding you.
That is not the way to win over supporters, people are going to view these comments and decide they cannot be bothered, as the comments will probably not be taken on board.
Some of ther best comments have come from the moderators and the.killing.44, and your foe'ing them........who does that leave?
Even shakeycat's jumped ship!
Think about it...

Now lets get this map back on track. Start looking at involving Long Island into your map. Also, start up photoshop and have a play with it (NOT ON YOUR MAP! USE A BLANK CANVAS)
Look for some tutorials online and just play. This might sound stupid but you'll;
a) Be more likely to discover new techniques if your not worried about ruining your map
b) Now think about how you want the map to look.
With (b), try and include Long Island, one important aspect of designing a popular map is to appeal to the majority. I can almost guarantee that a map draft with the title of New York: Long Island, would get twice as many views as The Hamptons. This is because people know where long island is and so is interested, few people outside of New York have ever heard of it and so doesn't appeal.
By all means use a copy of a map you've found online, but rip everything out and just leave the basic outline. Now get to work. If you have questions about how to achieve looks then just ask.
I hope this goes someway to helping you.

still go a good way to go though
Premier2k wrote:Well the first new draft is much better! You still have a long way to go but already it's looking better than it was.
I like the sea, there's something not right about the islands but I'm sure these will improve with further drafts.
How many territories are you planning to have? I think I count 37 so far... Can you get any more in?
Great work again!

I ask because the boats strike me as historical - circa 1800s. If you're aiming for a modern Long Island map, I'd try to update those.
Also - the bonuses seem high for so few territories. +2 for holding only 2 territories? I forsee a lot of unfair drops on this map because of that.
Good progress though.

oaktown wrote:I've said this many times before, and you are free to ignore it if you want, but maps that focus on such a specific region tend to find less support around here than other maps. If I have a choice between spending time commenting on a map of Korea or a map of Long Island - and I am faced with that choice - I'll spend my time in the Korea map. And that's not to say that I've spent a lot of time (or any) in Korea, but historically and geo-politically it is more significant than Long Island.
That said, to make this work and the rally support you'll need to give us something original and exciting.
