There are no tricks or secrets - it's just that one has to adapt one's tactics to the situation at hand, rather than just making almost predetermined, robotic moves in game after game.

You still roll the dice to attack as usual, you still pick up bonuses for holding stuff, and IMO the fog just means that team communication is even more important than usual. (you even get the advantage of joining second - an advantage in the fog!)

btw - I have never actually played "real" Risk! - I just play CC

No tricks and secrets? I beg to differ, remember a certain doubles game on Waterloo recently? Don't make me dig that up, sailor. Just hop along like the good little boy you are and go Fog somebody else up.

oh come on froppy, you could let them have a couple of games on maps they actually chose. surely the monkis have a couple of players capable of playing some of the oddball maps ;)

Hahaha, the best insult you can come up with is related to my score? It's an easy question though - I'm not the kind of guy who has to stick to little tricks and secrets on non-Risk related maps and refuses to tell anybody else about them. Perhaps you could try to 'to adapt one's tactics to the situation at hand' and who knows, maybe you'll win a few more games on normal maps next time.

Ok Guys, We have 2 outstanding LOW wins but their result is forgone (2.1 and North America) .. not even act of god can help us, so these are marked as results in the final score!

Monki's and LOW locked-horns in a fantastic tussle, which was played at the limits of human intellect.. with a little help from the variable of chance!
The hard fought nature of the Challenge was perhaps not quite illustrated by the margin of the end game tally.

Anyway it was a pleasure gentlemen and from our side, Lady/Queen!

This is now my final update on this epic Challenge:-

I was hoping to have a more meaningful discussion, but as you're only resorting to cheap shots I can only retort in style (but without the piss-poor grammar and spelling).

'Only' a captain? I can see how a virtual rank obtained through an online browser game might mean a lot more to an Ozzy scrap metal buyer, but it doesn't really keep me awake at night. I don't bash noobs in freestyle (team) games, I'm not particularly keen on farming new recruits on Circus Maximus or Waterloo and I certainly can't be arsed to play 85 active games anymore. I guess it'll have to do.

Maps and settings related to the original game are indeed those that only feature simple continents and territories. No fancy bombardments, infected neutrals or crap like Fog of War. Have you ever played a single real game where you weren't allowed to look at certain parts of the board? I think not. Look at what your mate said for instance: 'you even get the advantage of joining second - an advantage in the fog!'. Are you sure that quickly taking the first turn before your opponent had a chance to check out the drop is considered a 'tactic' instead of a trick?

Personally, I don't think fog or bombardment maps are cheap tricks; they are part of the game. You choose not to play them, that is fine! :P

absolutely Bro!

And i agree; for 2 evenly matched teams, equally aware and drilled in the art of Bombardment in freezing fog (brimstone on Tuesdays) I am sure they make for fascinating games .... We Monki's are not evolved though.. we are simple, fruit-eating primates, with elementary tool using skills!

Playing Waterloo in the Fog would have been like Rommel waging war on gorillas in the mist! Christ, Benji practically designed the game ;)

Anyway, great challenge and i look forward to evolving one day!

Congratz Jim on getting in there with that line first!!! :)

Anyway - I don't want any bad blood - it's been a bloody marvellous and very very hard fought contest - and the better play won through. =D> =D> =D>

I guess though that I need to find some more advanced sentient beings to play those games we set up!

See you around!

yeap we are working on reducing it by branching out into the less conservative maps...(we have an academy and everything) but we are too naive to play them in a Challenge at present.
