Regarding the southern forest, perhaps you could use a small variant of the tree to "fill" in the gaps, and give it a more "forest feel."

i was thinking of making them a little shorter, putting a black colour overlay on them at a low ocpacity to make them darker and then seeing how they look

Yes, try making some a little shorter. I think it would do the trick.

when i think of the clustered mountains i see the ones going down through yellow. they look weird.
the southern forest looks better, and the top cont. colour is fine.
just a note: gimils name is more noticeable than yours...

t-o-m...i still think you could lose a few more mountains in some place
i'm not saying your map should look like mine, but see how my mountains look more realistic below...i spent days working and reworking those mountains

also i can see you have a similar style bevel going on now between the map island and the legend, correct?

yes i like yours on that map - i think they would suit mine well...
i will delete some of them soon - its just a matter of getting around to it

about the bevel - gimil helped me with that :)
hence the "special thanks to gimil". but yes it is the same type of bevel through-out the land/legend.

ive never palyed cairn coral coast...i'll try it out!

message from tom, since he got another forum ban for something he doesnt know about :?

---tom---

ok well ive changed the terit names, however they arent very accurate, i think i should put something at the bottom saying in small something like "some names are changed to suit the map"??
the new names are actually where they should be, but the names are places inside the terit.

i dont know when ill be back but ill try to get other people to post things for me...damn you wicked

I'm not too sure that you need to have the bevel on the legend as well as the map itself.

Have yuo tried adding an outer glow to the island to help blend it into the sea?

On a gameplay aspect, the green region is the only one that is easy to hold; and gives an advantage to anybody starting at the top of the map... I would start from there, and then work round clockwise until I had Green, Pink and Orange for a bonus of +6, with 3 borders to defend (Melaky or Menabe, A-M, Atsinanana). With a little work, I could expand into the blue area to get +9 with 3 borders (Menabe, Betafo, Atsinanana).

I can't see a similarly simple way to expand for anybody strarting in the South.

I agree... what about punching a hole in the mountains from orange to green? it could even be a one-way attack into green (with gimil's fun little arrow - you know the one). Other than that I think gameplay is pretty much ready to go.

I'm digging the trees and mountains - visually it's coming together and looks fun. I'd lighten the border between regions - nothing else on the image is black. And I agree with the comments about the over-use of beveling, and I would consider losing the bevel on the region borders, unless they are supposed to represent valleys.

i agree about punching a hole. Prefferably between batssomethingorother, and AM, right where the mountains are all scrunched up. Fix 2 problems with 1 blow!

LOL, i agree..........

Regards gameplay, im becoming incrasingly =worried that if you start in the top half of the board you have basically secured victory. You get the bonus 1 and move downwards with ease well others are scraping it out!

Also there will be a mad rush to get to the top of this map....Very worried

How about adding a few more regions at the botton to creat another small continent with a 1 bonus?
