Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (10/13)
OK, I just wanna' make sure I understand how this is gonna' work (assuming we made the cut, which I hope we did 'cause this sounds like a cool idea) - the dojo master will assign each of his students to challenge 4 other dojos (assumes a field of 13). And then who sets up those matches? Do we communicate the challenges to the tournament director Skyward Shadow and you set them up, or do we set up these matches ourselves? Just wanna' make sure I understand how this is gonna' work.
And so if I understand this correctly, the 3rd most talented student is going to end up with 16 1-on-1 matches right out of the gate, yes? 4 matches where he has been assigned to challenge another dojo, and then 12 instances where he is the first line of defense against an opposing challenge? I feel like I have this part wrong 'cause you said you wnated to keep it available to freemiums and this would seem to make that impossible.
Last question - I guess there will be simultaneous challenges going both ways, right? In other words, Dojo A will elect to challenge Dojo B, and likewise B will be challenging A - so they'll be playing each other initially in two separate matches, with one being the challenger and one being the defender in each?
Do I have any of this correct? Sorry, don't mean to be a nuisance.

My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!
Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (10/13)
I'd also like to get in on this; sent a PM to fantanyser and am waiting on a response--we may try to find 2 others, but if anyone's looking for a couple of additional players, I think we're the only 2 who have posted in the thread at this point and haven't formed a dojo.

You essentially have everything correct. Once we have our 13 Dojos, I will send a PM to the Dojo Masters asking for their student/opposing Dojo assignments. I will then set up the matches, and PM the individual users their games numbers and passwords.
I'm going to stagger the game assignments, so that no Freemium is overloaded. Since each Dojo will be assigning 12 attacks, I'll set up just three of their "attacks", while ensuring that each Dojo is attacked equally. This will ensure that if a Freemium is third-most talented, he will have no more than 4 immediate games. (If he has a couple of games going when the tournament starts, I'll allow reasonable time to finish them.)
FREEMIUMS: If you are the third-most talented, once the tournament starts, please keep your 4 slots open as old games finish! I'll get you into another game the same day that a previous one ends.
I hope that answers your questions adequately. Feel free to inquire more, or point out problems if I have overlooked something.

If you're interested, you can PM kratos644, as he posted that a team would come later, but I know he's busy setting up his own tournaments.geigerm wrote:I'd also like to get in on this; sent a PM to fantanyser and am waiting on a response--we may try to find 2 others, but if anyone's looking for a couple of additional players, I think we're the only 2 who have posted in the thread at this point and haven't formed a dojo.
Updated to this point. 1 more to go! (Or two, if they join kratos.)

Hi,
Sounds very interesting!!
Finally a new, fresh idea!
I really want to join but have no team (was trying to make one for about a week now but wasn't very successful)- can I join an existing Dojo?

Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (12/13)
Hi Shadow,
Many thanks for having the inspiration and the wherewithal to set this tourney up - it's a great concept....quite unique
I'm in with geigerm and fantanyser, along with my regular doubles partner Daryth. So that's our four. I think that makes me the Dojo Master, tho the only black belt I ever received was across the backside for misbehaving at school!
Too early to establish a dojo name etc, but will advise very soon - hopefully by tomorrow.
If you were looking for advice in the event of a tie, then I'd consider favouring the underdog (either the player with the lesser rank, or the aggregate total of the whole dojo). Food for thought
Thanks again,
Simon (HG)

Thank you! gdeangel definitely deserves some credit, as he made a post about creating a dojo challenge tournament. With his permission, I took the idea and ran with it.HermannGoering wrote:Many thanks for having the inspiration and the wherewithal to set this tourney up - it's a great concept....quite unique
