In other words, Dojo A will elect to challenge Dojo B, and likewise B will be challenging A - so they'll be playing each other initially in two separate matches, with one being the challenger and one being the defender in each?

You essentially have everything correct. Once we have our 13 Dojos, I will send a PM to the Dojo Masters asking for their student/opposing Dojo assignments. I will then set up the matches, and PM the individual users their games numbers and passwords.
I'm going to stagger the game assignments, so that no Freemium is overloaded. Since each Dojo will be assigning 12 attacks, I'll set up just three of their "attacks", while ensuring that each Dojo is attacked equally. This will ensure that if a Freemium is third-most talented, he will have no more than 4 immediate games. (If he has a couple of games going when the tournament starts, I'll allow reasonable time to finish them.)
FREEMIUMS: If you are the third-most talented, once the tournament starts, please keep your 4 slots open as old games finish! I'll get you into another game the same day that a previous one ends.
