I've spoken with both the mods and Craig both sides believe they are right. The presentation on Google docs are an accurate detailing of the facts. Essentially the issue seems revolve around should someone have the right to not be sent the commentary email. Craig doesn't want the extra work of editting the email list and feels the commentary is an integral part of tourneys he runs. The mods feel he should accommodate email exclusions.

Earth shattering drama I know.......

Is it beyond the wit of man to come up with a solution like putting the commentary on a forum so you can read it if you want or just don't enter if you don't want an email ?

Frankly if you are running a tourney you should have the right to dictate the rules. The mods should be grateful that someone is putting the time in to make CC a better place. I'm not taking sides here but come on sort it out ive got a league to win.

Guys!!!! As I have explained in so many place in those Forums, the issue was about the CK Memorial event!!!! How hard is to read and listen rather than come here and blame CC team??!!??

It was Craigā€™s decision to mix both event together and pause the Super League.

And yes issue has been resolved about the CK Memorial tournament as TO list revised and event to be revisited by those who will still be involved.
As far the Super League, it is not CC team who is holding anything. So get your facts prior anything else.

Hope you guys will really start to read and stop posting clueless comments.

Mad, Im sorry on this point I am going to offer an alternative to you.

Super League and the CKCup were strongly connected of which I imagine you are aware of. There was much of the same structure, concept and team, with a few slight tweaks to do it as a once-off memorial for a fallen warrior. A significant issue with one always had a strong possibility of impacting the other. A conflict in one always had the potential to spill over into the other (especially when one was still in its formation stage).

I continue to look forward to the day when reconciliation is had and we can see if Carl can catch up for Premier glory. :D

OK enough.

This tournament is one of the main reasons why, why CC started to regain and even add members.
Just 6 months ago there were only 17 pages of games and now we average closer to 30.

It is time for both sides to set aside their differences, and think of the bigger picture.
The Mods may be correct in their view, but their heavy handed, take no prisoners approach, is off putting and out of line.
To run a successful business, it is ones best interest to try an accommodate the people who are
making massive contributions.

Absent that, I am calling for all players to fully support this tournament. Absent of that, If this goes Under I will cancel my subscription, and I hope others will follow.

Bilbo, things have evolved since Tuesday, and about the CK event, I had no time yet to update you but you should be made aware later this weekend. So once again, my above statement is totally accurate.

And for the records, Iā€™m also a player of the Super League and enjoying it, therefore when I say the whole thing has no need to be related (CK event case & Super League), I really meant it.

Hi All

This is my reponse to Groovysmurf which was written shortly after she posted on this forum. I have not started to open my mails or walls yet. Needless to say, I am VERY upset about my treatment from CC. Also, please make sure your 'LIVE' League Table Link is in your BOOKMARKS. It allowed me to keep in contact regardless of a CC Ban and if anyyone requests to be an Editor on it or to view it (while I am not sharing it), we can stay in contact ongoing. I will start to repond to Mad777 after I am up to date. But, if anoyone wants to read my initial thoughts on what he has being saying so far on the CK CUP, by all means read it on the 'LIVE' League Tables. Or maybe they should be called the 'LIVE' musings of a seriosusly upset CC player. My response to Groovysmurf:

Hi Groovysmurf,

I will start off by saying this is a very unfortunate situation. ā€˜The Daily Scudderā€™ Article was meant as fun. The Article itself was clearly fun and the wording after it made it abundantly clear. In addition, I re-iterated this in my response to you.

But for those not aware, on this occasion, my Article and Update was sent at a horrifically bad time. I was obviously not aware of that at the time of writing.
To be clear, no malice was meant in the article. The commentary after the article makes that abundantly clear. But apologies if offence was taken and of course my condolences. For the little it is worth, I genuinely mean that. I did block the person in question's mails after the 3rd mail on the subject of commentary. That was a few days before the offending ā€˜Articleā€™. So have no idea if they contacted me after that. As I was blocked from any communication on CC shortly after I was told about the sad News, I could not remedy that.

The last time I received a mail from you. Nobody else was CCā€™d on it Groovysmurf. Yet it was followed immediately by my Warning for composing and posting the ā€˜Daily Scudderā€™ Update. And a Wall from another Mod (Razorvich) saying ā€˜my respect for you is now in the gutterā€™. Maybe coincidental, but I digress.

In your mail, You did try to give me an inkling of the horrific timing of ā€˜The Daily Scudderā€™ Article which I am thankful for: ā€œHe is going through a very rough spot in real life right nowā€. I did not know what you meant by this. And if I had known what you were saying I would have taken immediate actions to rectify the situation.

I have been posting commentary on Tournaments for 4 years. As many people have posted, it is one of the aspectā€™s that setā€™s Tournaments I create apart from most others. I managed to get a lot of people to enjoy participating in my Tournaments to allow Me to get something as audacious as ā€˜The Super Leagueā€™ up and running. So many people on the forum you have posted on have been reading my commentary for 4 Years and possibly none of them agreed with your sentiments?
You described my post as ā€œspreading lies and bullshit about a fellow moderatorā€, ā€œrude, cruel and completely uncalled forā€ and a ā€œcharacter assassinationā€.

If I sent posts like you have described, I would rightly have almost nobody competing in my Tournaments. So please dial down your rhetoric a bit. You are welcome to your view but please do not try to force it on an audience that has read the article and has formed their own opinions on Myself and my Updates.

When you continued this line on your forum post, it is very hard for me to reply objectively. But hopefully you can see I am trying.

ā€œI know that Craig has spread some false information about what happenedā€ ā€“ I have got absolutely no idea of what you are referring to?

ā€œit was HIS choice to pause this tournamentā€ ā€“ I agree.

ā€œand his choice to continue to do things that led to his 72 hour banā€ ā€“ Are you referring to Me mailing the Super League about:
- Update on BANNED Maps / My Warning
- New Commentary Rules being forced on all my Tournaments
- Forwarding the Mail which threatened my participation in running the Super League and the CC Plans which had already been formed to do so: ā€œSuper League can still run without you, remember that all the gaming side is managed by someone else as well as the scoreboard, and all to be missed will be your commentary mailing, this avenue has already been reviewed and if the CEO has to be fired, then so bid.ā€.

In retrospect, sharing this ENTIRE Mail and the sender may not have been fair on my part. But to learn the above, was very insulting given the time and effort I have dedicated to Tournaments I have set up.

If that is the case? When you said ā€œand his choice to continue to do things that led to his 72 hour banā€ I was clearly mailing the Super League where to the best of my knowledge nobody has requested I do not send them mails. So, Iā€™m confused. I thought the new rules being imposed on me still allowed me to contact my Tournament participants in these circumstances?

Nobody from CC contacted me to tell me why I was BANNED or how long that Ban would last for. So, I was left guessing at the reason. Iā€™m sure you can understand that. I assumed it was for forwarding the mail from Mad777?

I am going to move on from this and try to resolve my differences with CC in an objective fashion. I would like to think my response demonstrates that. I commend you for replying on a pubic forum. This makes things transparent and demonstrates good will to resolve the issues to allow us to continue a remarkably successful Tournament. I will continue in this vain as transparency and objectivity can only be a good thing for all concerned.

I will now open the Mails and view the New Wall Posts I have received. There are a lot! So it might take some time. I have been told one of them will be from Mad777.
I hope we can resolve our differences. But we shall see.

And for Super League Players, Letā€™s hope we can get back to ā€˜The Mouthā€™ Clanlord Carl not winning the Premier League anytime soon.
And also, it should be noted, anybody who is BANNED by CC while conducting Official Super League Business will be compensated with 5 additional Super League points PER DAY BANNED in the current Season. That puts me on a MASSIVE 22 Points after 10 Match Ups, over taking the current leader ESQuire ā€˜The Skewerā€™, moving from the MOON DOOR to POLE POSITION to complete the TREBLE in 1 foul swoop. By Order of the CCFA!

And thank you for your continued support!

Re: Super League - Season 11 ***TOURNAMENT PAUSED***

Postby Craig25 on Sat Jan 28, 2023 7:01 am

I'm going to set this Post out methodically. To try to give people an understanding of how low I feel right now. And hopefully from that, we will have a chance of repairing enough of the damage to continue.

But 1st, a history of why the Super League was formed. It's important ofr me to show this. Some of it has been said before, but I have never taken 5 minutes to explain it all on the one post:

The Sentimental Stuff! - A part of me you never knew existed!

Please indulge me for 5 minutes. The History of the Super League is important to me. So Read my sentimental stuff 1st, then keep reading. You might think itā€™s boring to start, but, as you all know, I do not do boring!

After many years as a player on CC, and in the last 5 years setting up a lot of the most successful Tournaments on CC. I wanted to give something back.

I thought, a Single ongoing Tournament, where the games were fast, there was a lot of action, and where every player regardless of their skill level could compete and get as much enjoyment out of it as the Swords, Crowns and Stars on CC was the way forward.

After many years spent getting players sufficiently interested in my Tournaments, partly through commentary may I add. I got to the point where I could set up an ongoing Tournament with enough Runners to give it a chance of being successful.

The Super League was born!

It was set-up #fortheplayers. But also to give something back to CC. I wanted it to continue when I was gone.

I knew that for it to continue to flourish the support of the players is crucial.

Super League is #fortheplayers. It can be the greatest Tournament in the world but if there are no people to play it, it becomes nothing.

CC Players have never let me down yet! Thank you.

I also needed to get more people into creating and managing Tournaments. Not Tournaments that are CCā€™ esque, Nope. HUGE Tournaments. I asked, CC Players answered.

Over the years I have had a HUGE amount of help. People are restricted with time, and skills (this deffo includes me), etc. So some people helping have fell by the way side over the years. But, and I can say this for every single person who has helped me. At the time, your support was invaluable. And without it, we would not be where we are today with a 270 Player Tournament, with circa 100,000 games played on it, which is the absolute BOMB!
Forgive me, I will only mention 1 of you Guys who have helped over the years. Ad (Anila8) the ā€˜Quiet Manā€™. But in all my years, He has been the Guy that has easily came closest to matching any where near my levels of input. And, without his Technical Skill on Excel, this Tournament would be impossible to run.

My Issues

Things have taken a drastic turn for the worse recently.

My issues are 100% with CC. To the extent, that I no longer feel that I want to ā€˜Give something back to CCā€™. So I would respectfully ask all players that if I am removed at any point. Please respect my wishes to bring the ā€˜Super Leagueā€™ to an end. I would not under the current circumstances for ā€˜THEā€™ Super League to continue under any form.

If CC do BAN me permanently. People who are currently helping me may wish to start something similar at Season Zero like I done in the Super League. I certainly have nothing against that and would encourage them to do so.

Mad777 sent me a mail just before my Ban was lifted. I cannot share any of that mail because releasing the message will result in another ban and it will be more severe this time. He does offer a different narrative to some of the things which to be blunt, I find absolutely disgusting. Both our thoughts on the matter would allow you to draw your own conclusions.

So, before I express my issues. I invite Mad777 to share his own mail with you. He has put me in a position that I cannot comment directly on what is contained and without doing so my Mail would appear not to acknowledge what he has said. Which is untrue, It's just that I do not agree with a relatively small part of it. But see above, If I comment on any of it, another ban, only more severe this time awaits.

Please please sort this out! I was one of the players that was speaking and planning a league system with Craig at the beginning.

I said wouldnā€™t it be good to have a league format where you could get promoted and relegation and carry in season after season?

Then Craig made it happen! The work that goes into it must be madness and I like to thank all the players that help setting up the games and giving so much time to this amazing competition.

I look forward to every season, even when I have been relegated the last 2 seasons lol.

The commentary from Craig is brilliant!

Please please again put all your differences to one side and get back to playing the best competition on Cc.

I imagine this has already been suggested...

What if commentary was relegated to the forum? Daily-ish / weekly emails could just include a link to here and the Google xls. I've done this previously for my own tourneys and it works really well.

Not only would this prevent cluttering inboxes, but would also preserve the commentary for posterity (perhaps even serve as a means of attracting new players?).

I enjoy reading the commentary, but the messages could never be saved bc I have to delete them when my inbox fills up.

I have been playing CC for 83 years. Or so it seems. I have entered a few tournaments in that time. Some have been good. Some not so good. This is only my third season of SL, but it's the best by far. Many things contribute to the experience, but the commentary is absolutely unique and always entertaining. I can't imagine the work involved in setting up and maintaining the tourney. Yet, when I had a question about the set up, I got an immediate and reasonable response. I can't imagine why anyone would make a volunteer's work one iota harder.

Come on, CC. Let's get back the game.

NOTE PEEPS:

For journalistic integrity. Under the header MOD SOUND LIKE A GOOD GUY?

I wrongly attributed thise comments to the Mod. It was in fact the GOOD GUY who said: ā€œ1r. I'm not sure what to say, the whole thing is very sad and we will all lose. It is clear that neither side is willing to compromise at all to fix things regardless of the rights and wrongs of the situation.
We do actually need someone like Craig to add some soul to tournaments and arrest the long term decline of CC but I have experienced first hand that he is a difficult guy to work with once he disagrees over something.
I've played this game every single day for 16 years now and feel invested in it. Can I please beg you to work something out that doesn't include throwing Craig under a bus over things that seem ridiculous and trivial. But I absolutely agree no he shouldn't be trying to mass mail anyone to seek sympathy over things that mature adults should be able to work out logically in private.
Your job isnt easy at all but please find some resolution for the good of all.ā€

My Commentary: My Comment: He was sounding great for a minute here. He even says ā€˜Can I please beg you to work something out that doesn't include throwing Craig under a busā€™. Sadly this is just before he throws Craig25 under a BUS, claiming that I knew about the Guys Dadā€™s Death prior to sending ā€˜The Daily Scudderā€™. A sick puppy indeed!

Error in 'My commentary does not change My sentiment. Of MOD being a 'Sick Puppy indeed' for telling people I knew about the Guys Dadā€™s Death prior to sending ā€˜The Daily Scudderā€™ Update. When it WAS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE!

I apologize I havent read through everything, but if the Mass Mailing issue has found a compromise and whats left is what shit hit the fan and how it did hit the fan, then perhaps people can agree that:

shit hit the fan, feelings ran high, misunderstandings and half understandings abunded in the mix?

To me, I find it hard to believe that anyone goes out of their way to go after someone who just lost their father on purpose. - Regardless of what timelines goes where (again, Im sorry, I cant keep track of it), I find it likely that information probably was available but was missed, halfunderstood, not connected to the prope place untill after feelings were hurt in an obviously fragile and sad situation which then spiralled into angry feelings between others with a certain amount of of stubbornness and not much focus on flexibility from both or even several sides.

I think at this point, some breathing was done and some of the dust settled...?

The discussion has now moved to who was how wrong about what...

Possibly it would be fair to everyone to say that a few stubborn and perhaps even hard headed people have been involved in a debacle where shit hit the fan and stuff was said in the heat of the moment that was perhaps not often hmmm eloquently phrased. Half certainties became almost certainties which became THIS IS HOW IT IS AND ME AND MY BASEBALL BAT SAYS SO.

I would imagine that not every bruised feeling and every offence taken can be properly mended though they will hopefully diminish or dissipate over time.

Im thinking that Ive seen Craig apogize and offer condolences for the initial situation but maintain that the context only became clear to him later.

I base this not a detailed perusal of an accurate timeline, but on simple probability.

If I put out a few adjectives such as stubborn, hardheaded, direct, gruff at times, Im thinking that Im not insulting anybody by assuming that it fits the key people in the current leftover debate. - I think Craig has written the gist of that into the rules somewhere, so I feel fairly confident that he will take little offense at that. And Im thinking that a certain degree of the above adjectives is more or less a job requirement to be a mod in pretty much any online game/forum?

Can we leave it at that... Craig bruised some feelings, offered apoligies and condolences, Perhaps he could have or should have known or picked up earlier that there was a situation.

Perhaps mods could have and/or should have given more credence to Guardians of the Galaxy adage: "I dont believe anyone is 100 % an arsehole" and not hack into stone something that might not deserved the stone tablet or use of the chisel - even if some or most of it was intended for a closed circle rather than the full public.

Perhaps there was some pressure inactied on the whole process by obtaining and sharing stuff in public that wasnt neccessarily intended to, but then again, - what would have happened if that hadnt been done, and was it even maybe a good thing in some respects that a situation perhaps spiralling out of hand got some extra attention and debate.

Perhaps mistakes were made because there was shit hitting the fan and most people involved were pissed off.

Could we leave it at that. - Agree that its all a bit messy. Agree that not everyone has to agree completely, Accept that some people will think of each other a bit less friendly but let the majority of the shit and maybe even the fan and the spunges used to clean the ceiling and the walls drift out to sea...?

Im thinking that Im not the only one on the sidelines that have no more energy or interest to invest into increasingly minute points - though I of course realize that when you have a place in the center of it those details seem if not huge then at least crucial to the whole debacle and will be hard to let go of.

I remind people that to forgive or at least let some stuff go is Divine. - Not that Im pretending to be God. - Not today. I get Sundays off. :P

Best regards,
Tviorr

Re: Super League - Season 11 ***TOURNAMENT PAUSED***

It seems like the majority i.e. those of us on the fringe that pay and just want to play in the Super league and enjoy CC, want a line drawn under this.

I would like to hope that this also acts as a future reminder to count to 10 before hitting send on something that you know will result in conflict.

And that is a suggestion for ALL sides.

If we want this great site to continue then we need to avoid this in-fighting. Keep it for the playing boards.

f*ck it, I'm going to end this shit right now. I agree with everything that has been said, it is getting boring now!

My Reputation is very important to me, If I was a bit of a DICK about it, that is why.

It's really not cool what has happened. But, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

Totally agree, I never much of a poster in the 16 years I have played here, but this was the most I have commented on since day 1.
Everything about this tourney has kept me playing on this site, its quickness, commentary is amazing, and Just being fun.

So hope we can continue right where we were when paused, and have some fun again.

It's been tough on everybody.

I am very happy to see that you will continue Super League and want to say that I am sorry for any part I had in this. When I read that message about Chanakam it just angered me so much, but I have no doubt that you knew NOTHING of what was happening in his real life; I never thought you did even for a second. I just didn't feel it my place to elaborate on the specific details of what was happening in his life, which is why I kept it so vague. I did report the message officially and included my response to you in that report, which is why king achilles and the other department heads knew. I am all for funny commentary and I appreciate what you do in your messages regarding Super League, but using the CaronylKluster Memorial Cup as a heading to say the things you did was going a step too far and people reacted to that in different ways, some perhaps too harshly.

I also have a reputation that is very important for me to maintain, so for transparency, I'm including the message I sent to you in it's entirety and I again apologize if I was too harsh.

I really don't appreciate you spreading lies and bullshit about a fellow moderator. This "article" is rude, cruel and completely uncalled for! Chanaka has been an amazing addition to the team, and deserves far more respect than you are giving here. He is going through a very rough spot in real life right now and is a gentle and kind-hearted person. I can't even imagine the pain he will feel when he reads this character assassination.

The number of messages that some mods receive is INSANE. I get 50 messages per DAY on average. And with Chanaka taking the reigns of the monthly challenges this year, his incoming messages have increased exponentially. His request to be removed from the list was VERY reasonable.

You MUST have a list of names that you copy and paste into the messages; it's really not hard to simply delete someone's name that requests it. Actually, MUCH easier than someone having to make a rule to block all messages from you, which honestly isn't ideal at all! We as mods can't just completely block people like that! We have a job to do, one we volunteer our time for. If someone sends us a legitimate message about a tournament or challenge, we're expected to respond to that message. If all of these are being auto-deleted, we can't do our job.

N1 groovysmurf, A very nicely worded response. You were not the person responsible for the damage to my reputation. I hold no grudge whatsoever against you. You said your view and allowed me to respond, I have no issue with that at all. And as you know, I commend you for that.

It would be nice if the issue with damage to my reputation was addressed by the person concerned. It's the right thing to do given the damage it has caused.

Regards
