Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.8: page 4

Here is the next update (1.9 ): removed the desert, changed the anchors (although the ones that cross each other aren't perfect yet, but you can already let me know what you think of it)

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.8: page 4

Looks like you can fit No. into the territory.

And what the hell is between Sudan and Chad... Desert? I don't think this makes too much sense as the two countries went to war as recent as 2004... I'm in favor of dropping the impassable there.
Yeah that is a desert 8-) You're right that it might ...

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.7: page 3

I'd like it if it were more visually clear whether Marrakesh borders Bechar, whether Tamanrasset borders Gao, whether Khartoum borders Western Ethiopia.

You should also add a starting neutral in one territory in each of Mauritania and Niger. With only three territories it's too easy for a player ...

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.6: page 3

Added an extra Anchor color so Al wahat can only attack Tafilalt and Caïro. Also changed Libya's bonus to +4.

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.4: page 3

I did some small changes to the rivers, and made a desert, now Chad, Sudan and some other continents don't have that much borders to defend anymore.

Only read your post now, but with a small river between Eritrea and E.F., Horn Of Africa would only have 2 borders too, would that suit gameplay ...

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.4

Egypt seems a bit hard to hold, there's 2 territories on one side and 2 on the other side of a river, and you have to take 2 territories from another bonus to get from one side to the other...

If you would add a red port to Al Wahat it would at least be a bit easier, since you would only have to ...

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.3

Changed the bonusses, I gave continents with an Oasis 1 less than similar sized continents without one.

Please let me know your thoughts about them, I'm still not sure whether they are adequate or not. ;)

Thanks! :P
I will start with lowering the bonusses 1 or 2, then other people can suggest more subtle changes to the bonusses.

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.3

Your bonus' seem too high. I think almost all of them could be dropped 1 troop and some 2. Nice map though. I like the simple open game-play and feel to it :)
Thanks for your comment :)
Yeah you're right about the bonusses, I wasn't sure about them myself, but that will be discussed in the ...

rockandrull wrote:What are the anchors for?
It is described in the legend. Anchors with the same color can attack each other. So for example: Caïro can attack Somalia and vice versa ;)

Re: Oasis Sahara, V1.2

Instead of those arrows connecting territories to names like abuja, tunis, tozeur and tataounie, try abreviating their names as Eastern Front(E.F.)

Actually, using abbreviations is not a good solution. It makes the map much harder to read - players need to check back and forth between the map ...

Re: Oasis Sahara

the map looks good. when you have here Oasis, did you think about any desert territories (maybe jungle also) as killer neutrals or decay territories?
That is an interesting thought, but is it a plus gameplay-wise? I mean, if I put some killer neutrals, there should be some reason to conquer it ...

Re: Oasis Sahara

Hi!
I like the map, it's very original. But you must make the bridges and hills a bit better. But on the whole a good job !
Some things to help on your mapmaking: (This is just some advices, you don´t really need to make them, but in my opinion, you should)

You can take those army circles out ...

Re: Oasis Sahara

I also like this one. I am fond of the map design as well, maybe a bit of clean up (the bridges, anchors, and mountains need work), but I like how the borders are not all uniform thickness and have a bit of a rough feel. The colors seem ok, but I think the oasis/desert theme would do well with more ...

Re: Oasis Sahara

Oh, I like this one. Simple but an underrepresented area.
You'll want to put some starting neutrals around -- one on each oasis and then at least 3 more to bring it down to a balanced starting territory number. I recommend one in Morocco, one in Mauritania, and one in Niger so that players have no ...
