NOTE: NEW EXPANSION OF THE TOURNAMENT
Its been less than 24 hours since we reached the 128 player mark. In that time an additional 77 players have signed up to play. In an effort to accomodate everyone who wants to join us here I'm going to expand the tournament a bit. We will add one extra level to the first round and have some eliminations there. We'll also expand both the field and the eliminations after Rounds II and III. I will take signups until one of the following has been reached. 1) We reach 256 players (doubling the original number) or 2) it becomes Friday here on the east coast of the USA. If we don't get to 256 there will be a certain number of players that will have a round 1 bye. These will be randomly assigned.
So here we go

Championship Series
This is my most famous series with 69 tournaments having finished or active to date. It seems only right that we're going to start off here.
Each player will play a best of three series on one of the 69 maps that we've used in the Championship Series to date (there are a couple of maps that are no longer around such as Classic and Centerscape that won't be used but you'll get the idea). You will not know which one until you begin. We will progress in a standard bracket format until we have a champion. We will randomize the maps and just cycle through but all three from your series will be on a common map so that Player 1 and Player 2 will play 3 games on Map 1, Players 3 and 4 will get Map 2 all the way through the first 64 maps in the random order. Then for Round 2 the winner of Player1 vs. Player 2 will play the winner of Player 3 vs. Player 4 on Map 65 continuing forward, when we run out after 69 maps we start over at one again.

Additionally, players will receive 1 point for each GAME won. (so a 2-1 loss garners 1 points while a 3-0 loss is 0)
At the end of this round we will cut down to 192 players from where ever we start off at.
You can follow the bracket as it moves forward here (your game should tell you which part you're in)

The Roots
I haven't done a franchise in this style but have run several different types of tournaments that are based on 48 player 4 player round robin type style (N Am vs. Europe vs. The World, The Foggy Tournament, EIOT Alien Invasion, The Bombardment Tournament)
Each player will be sorted into groupings of 16 so that there are 9 groups of 16. Players will play 12 games, playing each of the other players in their region at least once. There will be 3 sets of 4 games for the total of 12. players will accumulate wins in this section to advance to the finals. Each of the 6 players in the finals 4 games with 3 of their opponents in each game. They will play each opponent at least twice and will play some of the thrice. The games will be set up ABCD, ACEF, ACDF, ABEF, BCDE, BDEF. In the event a tiebreaker is needed, all those tied will play (holds true for both Round 1 and Round 2).

Friends and Family
I've done a number of tournaments based on friends around CC. From the Optimus Prime Anniversary Tournament to the Timminz Tournament to Keiths31's Beer fest to the OP/Lux Baby Naming tournament to Escape from Gilligan's Island to the Serbian Conquest I've done a number of themes based upon some of my CC friends.
To that end, the finals will be based at home, specifically in Madness.
The 16 remaining players will play 3 games. 1 8 player game, 1 4 player game and 1 2 player game.

- show: replacement policy
- During this tournament it is likely that players will have to drop out. In the first two round drop outs will be replaced by outsiders with those players stepping into the shoes of the players they are replacing, in later rounds, they will be replaced by the closest eliminated player. Such eliminated player will carry his or her points forward from that point but will get to add any points accumulated by the replaced player that were accumulated AFTER the elimination.
