whats it take to burn out on C.C.
just curious if any one knows the average # of games played when players drop off, I know there still are some original members here, but after so many games it gets harder to stay excited about these games, I know the stock answers will be, play in a tourney, play new maps, play different game styles, play team games, i could go on.
Well i have done all that, i'm not saying i'm leaving, dont know if I could.
Last year i joined a clan, that helped for about 6 months, but i just feel burnt out, i'm closing in on 4500 games played, in about 1 n 1/2 years here. thats almost 58 games a week. for awhile i would have 60+ active games going, on top of all my speeders. Currently I'm running about 5 active.
So what is that # of games?

Come on now, you don't seriously believe that there is an actual, numerical, answer to that question?azezzo wrote:just curious if any one knows the average # of games played when players drop off, I know there still are some original members here, but after so many games it gets harder to stay excited about these games, I know the stock answers will be, play in a tourney, play new maps, play different game styles, play team games, i could go on.

Your 'burn out moment' willl happen when it should happen for you. It might never happen though. Or then again it might have already happened and you don't realise it yet, but your subconscious mind is letting you know that it might have already happened by influencing you to start threads entitled 'what it takes to burn out on C.C.'

Code: Select all
Average number of games a person can play before burning out
=
10
+ Math.max((20-age)*5, 0)
+ parseInt(Math.sqrt(internetConnectionInKbps/50))
+ if (collectingUnemploymentBenefits(user_id))?150:0
+ if (isMulti(user_id))?0:10
+ if (singleMother(user_id))?90:0
+ parseInt(weightInPounds(user_id)/10)It's true... I read it on teh interwebs

There is, of course no set answer. A lot of people leave and come back. Some people play 50 games a day, some only 1 or 2. Some people like the forums, some like creating maps, some get involved in other projects... etc.azezzo wrote:

I think one problem here is that there is a contingent that thinks they need to please almost everyone.... or even that peopler really know for themselves what they actually want in a game site. The truth is that everybody finds a niche... and then maybe they stay, many they tire and look for another niche or maybe they leave. The "secret" (which I am sure Lack knows well) is not to harp on those who have eventually left (with a few exceptions .. if people leave en masse maybe it does matter), but to go out and find more people.

dont get me wrong, i'm not advocating anyone leave, i said i probably couldnt leave, was just curious. I'm sure most just drop the number of active games and come and go as they get the itch

You couldn't really work out an average because of all the New Recruits dropping out each day anyway.
I'm waiting for JOHNNYROCKET24 to post in this thread now.

I would guess the average is below 5. That's assuming you count all the new recruit deadbeats as having finished 0 games before burning out.

I've been here since pretty close to the beginning. I think the key is just taking breaks. There isn't all that much more for me to accomplish. I already reached #1, and basically know all there is to know about multiplayer escalating games. But there will always be new maps to try and figure out, or new rating goals to try and achieve, perhaps even new game options. Unfortunately, since these things don't come very often, the best thing to do after feeling burned out is leave for a while and come back. There will be enough new stuff hopefully to get you excited about playing again.

about 1/4 oz. of some good dank, summertime, a case of beer, a boat, fishing equipment and a bonfire. Down to 6 active games, not joining any new ones until the lake freezes over.

If you are bored, you can take breaks or try to think of something that would make the game interesting, and propose it to Lack...

What it takes to burn out on CC---
Lots of horrible losses (dang intensity levels)
Lots of unwanted point loss (I'd like to get out of the "Bars" again)
Spending too much time on the forums (so much time)
=================
What keeps me going---
Lots of terrific wins (sweet intensity levels)
Lots of wanted point gain (I'll be back up in no time)
Spending not enough time on the forums (so many interesting things)

A lot of times when I see people leave they leave suddenly. Usually their rank plummets significantly, which makes me think that they are in 20 games or so. Seen colonels and majors drop down to 2 stripers and 1 stripers, would have to be over 20 games deadbeated in those cases I would think. Just my 2 cents.

Re: whats it take to burn out on C.C.
getting screwed by the mods burned me out... so you could also add that too the equation.. enough for me too go buy premium at another site, and you're right, after so many games it does tend too get boring, the same type of maps from most the same ppl, it may be better if there was a program on here where anyone can make a map and play it like landgrab has
