hello everyone,
im new but i must say what a great site and great games.
as a newbie ive looked for info around the site and cant seem to see any so if its alright id like to suggest some ideas and let you decide if they're decent or not.
so what about a newbie thread that dedicates itself to beginner topics that someone like myself might need. this could be game type suggestions such as what games to try to get the greatest amount of experience in the shortest time. Whose the most patient to play. Quick overviews of the rules so newbies can grasp the games quicer and get involved etc etc etc
if there is a newbie thread/forum ignore this if not then who nose
regards

There is a search option, it's on the high right sight in the dark green bar where it says 'forum'wannaseemytreat wrote:hello everyone,

Regarding helping new people out- If you PM Wacicha he has a guild that will help lower ranked members learn a certain gametype. I learned a lot from being in his usergroup, things applicable too other game types too. Every single person who has anything to do with his group (all the teachers and students) are all incredibly patient, willing, and helpful. All-in-all a great place to start. I'm sure if you had other questions they would be more than willing to help.
There's also teachers in there who are more than willing to help with the learning of team games if that's what you are interested in (like me, personally
With regards to specific forums I'm not entirely sure. If so I've never seen/heard of/utilized them.
Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Re: help the newbies
Yeah, this forum could certainly use a Newbies section, maybe with a direct link from the front page, or from the PM you get when you first register. This would definitely avoid a lot of frustration... for those who follow the link.
I'm sure a basic "All you need to know" for newbies could easily be done and stickied on that forum, and anyone seeking for help would be able to find it there.

Perhaps the thread could include a sticky of 'players to avoid' complete with the Farmers Guild's rostergundiesalvo wrote:Yeah, this forum could certainly use a Newbies section, maybe with a direct link from the front page, or from the PM you get when you first register. Re: help the newbies
Why, it's something newbies should know about, isn't it?
I mean, if I made an "Advice for the newcomers" thread, that's something I would definitely include.
If you are going to defend farming go do so somewhere else and leave this thread alone kyle.

Re: help the newbies
I think this is a great idea
, Don't think it would be to hard just to add another forum title, and advise them when joining to check it out before starting a game , for sure would keep more newbie on the site and pay for the premium.
In my opinion a lot of new recruits do not stay cause they get wiped out by the farmers, but if they are fore-warned, than it would be their option to try for the big points or not, and maybe have a experienced player advise them how to play

Hello all. I myself am a newb and hoping to climb the ranks of the great tacticians of this site.......but first I have to learn the game. I do agree with the previously mentioned idea that the newbs probably jump on very difficult maps, don't want to take time to learn and understand the complexity of the maps and drop. This site is a great site, but IMO is very confusing to someone who is just getting started.
To retain and even involve more newer blood, perhaps the site needs a good beginner section. A more detailed Rules and Instruction page. I'd even suggest finding veterans to take newbs under their wing, critiquing and improving their skills to better their chances against war trodden tacticians
Just my own 2 cents. Hope to become better acquanted with everyone.

Re: help the newbies
There was a thread started about starting a clan to teach and train cooks which I thought was great. I don't know whatever happened to that idea.

As far as I know, that clan exists, it's called The Society of the Cooks, or something like that. However, newcomers don't know clans even exist, however the forum is more of an easy access point newbies looking for help or tips.
With the removal of Classic, the site has been dropping on activity, or at least that's what I read on another thread, so it's essential that we try and keep as many newcomers as we can, and I believe frustration is one of the major dropout reasons for newcomers. Frustration that comes from not really understanding the different settings, from being new to the game and finding no guidance about it, or about being smashed by more skilled players that just want to beat them to gain points. All this can be partly solved by implementing an area of the forum where newbies can go to learn what they should know about this game and this community.
