Alternate Refresh Button *Rejected*

Post by kwolff »

**Rejection Reason**

**No Real Reason For the Extra Button**

I think another refresh map buttun near chat would be handy.........scrolling back and forth in a freestlye game can cost time ,

I feel this is a minor detail , since i dont play in many freestlye games , but it would be a real nice touch to all games,,,,,,

Oh well, - i can advise you how to get round it.

Get some Superglue, a small worm, and a woodpecker.

superglue the worm on F5 button and superglue the woodpeckers feet just above F8 button

refresh button next to in game chat?

Post by asl80 »

What?
  • put a "refresh" button next to the "post message" button near the chat window in game screen (just like the "refresh map" button up near the map)
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • because you wont have to keep scrolling up and down to check if the chat has changed (i f you have nothin g to write at present)
  • also, from here you would also see whether the game log has altered.
Simple and easy, surely.

Yeah it is kinda annoying to say somethin in the game chat just so you don't have to scroll up and refresh the page...

you are aware that you can press (F5) and that will refresh the page as well, but I do agree with the idea of another refresh button, it shouldn't be that hard to do either.

yeah i know about the f5, but it's not like the lill' ol' refresh map button, just not as quick and easy, especially if your in a fast game or having a quick chat.
* If there are concerns over how much would constantly be loaded off the site, a system like the "load entire log" button for the game log would be alright. Instead, say, when ever the chat 'refresh button' is clicked, it would just go back to showing the last ten entries (and only the entire log if specifically clicked).

But sweet, good to see a bit of interest in this ... anyone else?

refresh button also at gamechat!

Post by Genoke »

Hello all,

i was wondering if it was possible to create a refresh-button just above the gamechat.

why?
Sometimes you can write down your thoughts in gamechat and actually having a conversation. Now we need to scroll up to click the 'refresh-button' and then scroll down again.
Would be easier if you don't have to scroll after every sentence, no?

Why not install one of the current add-ons, like chatglove, where you can detach the chat box and move it wherever you want. As well, another add-on you might find useful would be clickable maps so that you can hit the 'r' button and have the entire page refresh. I'll leave this up here because it is still a suggestion, I'm just offering alternatives for now.

This.

I honestly don't see this happening.

Move the chat box up under the map with a refresh button.

Post by Robert The Red »

I think the chat box shouldf be moved to under the map, in its current situation there is a need to scroll down to see it and it can be missed when playing in a hurry, plus newbies often dont use it. Also a refresh button on the box so chat can take place faster as at the moment you have to scroll to the top to refresh game to refresh the chat (unless i am doing something wrong.

Doesn't the chat update when the screen auto-recycles? If so, then there's no need for a refresh button for it.

It seems to take a long time to recycle, and in the heat of a battle every second counts. plus i guess they recycle speed could depend on you your internet conection.

Hi thanks for the info on chatglove but can not get it to download. any ideas on the best place to download it from?

Also still think it would be a good idea to move the chat box up under the game so you can observe it easier when playing a game plus the newbies are more likely to take notice of it.

The chat does auto-refresh with the game, however auto-refresh is only active during speed games, and it's set at 10 seconds.

Can't all users refresh the map and chat by hitting "r."

Also, if you don't like the location the alternative to chatglove is BOB (also for FF and greasemonkey) which has an option to put it at the top.

Since I use those plug-ins, I'm all for them being implemented into the site. I think the Tools and Enhancements forum and the T&E themselves sort of provide a semi-official beta testing grounds for this stuff anyway. Not sure what the relationship between Suggestions and T&E is.

Thanks for response, I have recently discovered Bob and chatglove and they are both brilliant, love having the chat window at the top of the page. recommend both those apps.
