Concise description:
In the forums, after quoting someone, the quote contains a link to the actual text.
Specifics:
For example, what I'm typing right now, someone may quote. Under their post, it says something in teh quote bubble like "FabledIntegral said..." in bold followed by this text. With this change implemented, there would be a little button or link that when clicked, would take the user to the original post.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Very handy to see
1. When the person said it
2. What other replies have been said since
3. Saves time fishing for the original post
4. Allows users to see what the original text was when someone quotes, then changes the text so it appears the person said something else.
I've been on other sites that have this, and it's used surprisingly more than one would think, especially when people quote things said pages back, or when people quote things said a long time ago and you THINK that they are quoting something said recently.

In this post, the quote bubble above would have little link in the top right that would take me, in this case, to the first post.

What happens if I do this:
Where I enter the [/quote] andFabled Integral wrote:Concise description:

I guess then it doesn't work - you have to use the big quote buttons...FabledIntegral wrote: by hand?
The other thing that leads it to abuse - is that you could modify the URL for the quote button as well - i.e. thus sending someone off to a porn site or something?

Re: Quote Link
Yeah, it only works when you hit the "quote" button for an entire link.yeti_c wrote:andlancehoch wrote:What happens if I do this:Where I enter theFabled Integral wrote:Concise description:

How would you modify the URL? It's not displayed to the specific person when quoting, the link is automatically done by the site. I don't think people would modify it anyways, because there's no guarantee anyone will click it. It's just a little box and if you're curious where the quote came from, that's all.

Re: Quote Link
That's a usual invision board feature... and it's modification-proof because it doesn't use the URL, but instead it has something like [jumpback]POSTNUMBER[/jumpback]... so it's a special feature, that creates a link with that icon, to the post with post number POSTNUMBER.
...number...post...post...postnumber...
...number...post...post...postnumber...

Please take this discussion to http://www.phpbb.com. That's where our forum software come from, and here at Conquer Club's Suggestions & Bug Reports we'd rather focus our time on things that relate more to our game (unless it a major bug).
