phpFreeChat Release 1.1 March 24th, 2008

Post by bedub1 »

There is a new version available. Can we roll it out to a test location prior to installing and overwriting the current version?

Have they even fixed the current version yet? I had asked Lack last time not to upgrade for the sake of upgrade, to wait until the bugs are all worked out, and to make sure we'll actually benefit from the upgrade. So hopefully he won't be in any hurry to install this and mess up chat again. ;)

The 1.1 version is released. The nickmeta parameter now supports raw html, it will satisfy all the developers who want to quickly add complex data in the user profile box. A new dyn_params parameter makes possible to disable caching on the parameters you want. Finally the refresh_delay_steps parameter has been added to dynamically adjust the chat refresh speed depending on the chat activity: the more the chat is active, the more it is responsive. This version also fixes lot of bugs and adds new translations. My last words are : many thanks to all the contributors !
When they fix whats wrong with a version, it's released as a new version. The new stuff in the profile box could be cool....and the refresh might be interesting...but as more people come and put more of a load...then it refreshes more often further increasing the load? Does that sound good? or maybe by responsive they mean "less frequently".....

As wicked said, we already tried to upgrade to phpFreeChat 1.1 and failed some time ago. Let's wait for 1.2 :-)
