Waterloo artillery in Fog of War games

Concise description:
  • In a Waterloo, fog of war games artillery positions can not "see" the territory beside them.
Specifics:
  • For example, if you occupied Imperial Guard 4 you would not be able to see Napoleon, Rossamme, Lobau 5, or Imperial Guard 3
Comments:

I may be mistaken in that this is a bug but I just assumed that the map would follow the same fog of war rules as in the other maps. These rules being that if you have X territory than you can see Y territory that is right beside it. This is low priority just felt like bringing it up. Also, I did not know if this should have been in this forum or them map one. So, if it is misplaced than may you direct me as to where it should be?

The reason that you cannot see the neighboring territories is that neither one can attack the other territory. I assume you are talking about territories such as C02, C03, C04, C05. If you look, these are artillery territories and can only bombard specific territories. The FOG only reveals territories that you can attack or that you defend against.

Yeah, I know how it works. My point is that should it be this way. Because if you follow the idea of Fog of War than you are able to see your surrounding territories so with that thinking, one would think that the same concept would be in the Waterloo map. You should be able to see the country right beside you is my point no matter who they can attack.

This is not a giant deal as I said previously it is just something I noticed.

You can only see places that you can ATTACK in fog. Every map with one-way borders does the same thing.

Would be good if someone updated the rules then as they clearly say "adjacent", not "attackable".

using adjacent forts, you can't go backwards through a one way border. I think the word "adjacent" in the rules refers to the same type of thing.

Thanks for the clarification, my understanding of Fog of War was the same as Thezzaruz. Makes more sense if the rules were based being adjacent not only attackable. Realistically, the artillery would not be able to see the places it could hit but for the purposes of the game I think it should stay as is on that note.

So do I but as the way adjacent is used here is quite different from the dictionary meaning of the word I still think that the rules should be updated to reflect that difference.

imo the wording of the explanation should be changed to reflect the game. how is this ?
The fog of war masks enemy positions that are not territories your forces (or your team's forces)can attack. It also masks territory and continent names in the log.

"Adjacent" is not an easy thing to determine based on the current XML.

Thus it uses anything that the territory can attack.
