OPEN MAJOR TOURNAMENT

Does anyone know if there was, or is, or will be a major tournament, say on the classic board, open to everybody? Any thoughts on having one once a year....like a major in golf, and make it mandatory for the highest players (many of whom maintain their high scores by team games with other high players)?

You cannot make a tournament mandatory for anyone. Sorry.

You can make a tournament using private games, and take a certain number of high ranked players. Go from ranked 1 to until you get as many as you need. Just a thought.

I'm not talking about me or any one person making a tournament,; I think it would be a good idea for CC to have a once a year major tournament, like golf for instance....again making it mandatory in order to claim "conqueror" status. If this is not done, you could retain a "paper" title, by playing certain combination games, and it would be ambiguous who REALLY is the best....just like in certain professional boxing divisions.

and so what if people play only certain games. its there choice what they do.

True....but why have a scoreboard when it is a sham.....when looked in detail, actually Warsteiner is the best player, competing regularly in individual games.Sky T, et al. play almost only team games protecting their scores.....I still think CC as a whole should make a tournament , perhaps once a a year....but of course, if nobody else cares, then we could leave the scorboard ambiguous, much like college football,or boxing etc etc.

There are plans to have official CC tournaments at some point in the future, but lackattack has said that he has specific criteria that he wants met for them, and that they will not happen until he finishes certain features that he wants to have available when they happen.

With that said, they will never be mandatory, just like players are not forced to play in any particular game type on the site already.

OK, thanks Optimus....Makes sense, I agree....like in golf or chess nobody is FORCED to play a major, but for Tiger to be #1 everybody expects him to.Looks like most of the past tournament were minor....i just started a couple of months ago, and thought some BIG tournie would be nice....again thanks for the input................MRT

I have a feeling that when we do have official tournaments you will see more of the high-ranking players showing up. They are going to want those bragging rights for winning, just like they want bragging rights for everything else as well.

And it's not like official tournaments will be as high in number as the tournaments now. Only specific people will be allowed to create them, I'm assuming.

From what I understand to this point, yes. Official tournaments will be a tightly controlled entity.

I think if they ever did an “Official” CC tournament, points of the players regular CC games would have to be removed. Meaning every player in the tournament would start with 0 points and try to build up (They would still have their points form their regular CC games). Through butt load of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and/or 8 player games, the top players would make it to the playoff. This would be a bracket style playoff. And hey, maybe they could through in some major games that would add to players point standings. Just what I have always dreamed would happen.

Ive always kinda wished we had multiple scoreboard's... as in have whole separate ratings for your 1v1 games, triples games, ect. Im one of those players whos points go down fast do to the number of 6-8 player games i play and lose

but i win almost all of my team games, just like to see how high id be based on a non-collective score

You are right it is impossible to know who the best is w/ the current system
