My holy-sh*t-o-meter just went through the ceiling

To the OP - get used to it, this is how escalating is played... In fact, the player didn't even take everyone in the one turn. Basic theory is to wait til there are enough cards on the table and use midturn card cashes to sweep the board.

Once you learn how to do it you'll have some fantastic fun ;)

On a serious note, that is what happen in MOST escalating games.

You have the plan the right attack at the right time. And that's what happen, domino effect.
