The bigger issue (for some Aussies) is they come here and expect us to accept their culture rather than assimilate into ours. It has created some pretty hot debate down here.

In saying that, most of my offspring have friends that arrived under this country via refugee status, and I am happy that no racism exists in my household.

Not liking migrants because of their ethnic background or their religion has always been an issue for some people. That doesn't mean noboby likes people who want to be accepted.

I'd say it's a false dichotomy on TeeGee's part that you're agreeing with. You can keep your culture and assimilate.

You are talking about Muslims or about Westerners... Westerners in the last century prove that they are open for migrants from different ethnic background or religion. The same can not be said for the Muslims. They prove that they are radicals. Even locations which had significant percentage of people from nonMuslim religion are now close to all Muslim locations. Take middle east for example, it had around one quarter nonMuslims a century ago, not it has below 5%.

They are sold an illusion. Told that Australia is a land of milk and honey where everything is free(welfare state). A lot of the boat migrants are economic refugees. Pakistani teenagers, pretending to be afghani children for example.
