Nope, which is why I support Congress holding investigations of the actions by the IRS. The IRS does not exist to punish people who do not believe government-approved thoughts.pimpdave wrote:So you defend people choosing to commit crime and then choosing to get away with it? Figures you want to ruin America.
But it certainly seems that Congress now exists to hold investigations of the executive branch rather than, you know, pass laws.Night Strike wrote:Nope, which is why I support Congress holding investigations of the actions by the IRS. Well, considering it's the executive branch's job to investigate crimes, yet Obama puts Holder in charge of investigating himself, obviously an outside party needs to become involved. Plus, Congressional oversight of the executive branch is also their job. The executive branch doesn't have unlimited power once a law is passed by Congress.Metsfanmax wrote:But it certainly seems that Congress now exists to hold investigations of the executive branch rather than, you know, pass laws.Night Strike wrote:Nope, which is why I support Congress holding investigations of the actions by the IRS. It is too bad that we don't have an organization in the government whose job it would be to investigate whether laws had been violated and punish anyone who had done so.

I've never heard a Tea Party person recommending that people evade taxes (and the progressives would have posted it all over the media if it were true). Many actively campaign to change and simplify the tax code, but never to break the law.pimpdave wrote:The IRS does exist to go after people evading taxes, which is something the Tea Party promotes in their rhetoric. Getting to keep more of your own money is not a subsidy. These groups exist on donations and do not work to make a profit, which is why they shouldn't have to pay taxes. The people who donate to 501c4 groups still have to pay taxes on those donations.ooge wrote:Why do these TEA NIMRODS think the American tax payer should subsidize them with their demanding of being a tax exempt group.
This is one of the benefits of having a Republican controlled house. It's a check on executive power. Imagine if the Democrats controlled the house, they wouldn't investigate anything (same in a Republican dominated Congress/Presidency).Metsfanmax wrote:But it certainly seems that Congress now exists to hold investigations of the executive branch rather than, you know, pass laws.Night Strike wrote:Nope, which is why I support Congress holding investigations of the actions by the IRS. one more thing. If the Republicans did not have the House of Representatives, there would be no reason to think we would even know about the IRS scandal right now. We only know because of repeated questions and hearings on the matter from the house of Reps, who would not have even been able to ask those questions if they did not control the the committees.Phatscotty wrote:This is one of the benefits of having a Republican controlled house. That's why I voted Republican in 2012. To check and balance an out of control executive branch, which happens to be Democratic at the moment. You have to consider the situation you/we are in, and make the best decision at that time.
Another 501c4 group THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE....tell me about non profit again..Night Strike wrote:I've never heard a Tea Party person recommending that people evade taxes (and the progressives would have posted it all over the media if it were true). of course more Americans over 2 million voted for democratic house members over republican house members, yet the republicans hold the House,a rigged game.Phatscotty wrote:one more thing. The fact that everyone keeps referring to these as "subsidies" even though they clearly aren't shows that they don't actually know what they're talking about (and Coburn usually does know). The explanation for how the NFL is non-profit makes sense, but it does sound like they actually deserve scrutiny unlike the everyday citizens who were targeted for speaking out against the government.ooge wrote:Another 501c4 group THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE....tell me about non profit again..Night Strike wrote:I've never heard a Tea Party person recommending that people evade taxes (and the progressives would have posted it all over the media if it were true). how about this then, change the law back to exclusively from primarily for social welfare programs.there by eliminating the NFL's 501c4 status along with a host of political groups both left and right, reducing the money that is in politics. Weather someone leans left or right they should agree there is to much money in politics.Night Strike wrote:The fact that everyone keeps referring to these as "subsidies" even though they clearly aren't shows that they don't actually know what they're talking about (and Coburn usually does know).
