QR Code for Smart Phone Users

Can we put a conquer club qr code on the home page? This would help players using smartphones to access the conquer club homepage without typing the address in the browser.

Google lets you create qr codes for free. I have made one for cc and you can check it out at http://goo.gl/aF2cs.qr

I'm on my iPhone right now!

I made an app for CC. When I open the app, CC's web page opens. I'm not sure what a QR code would do, but I don't see why it would be bad if it makes it easier to play.

Two flaws in this suggestion, as far as I know you would need to scan the qr code from a computer screen - if I was doing that why would I not play on said computer?

Also I do play on my smartphone from time to time, I don't need to type in the address as I have it bookmarked....

There are a number of apps that allow smartphones to scan QR codes. For my part, I didn't know computers could read QR codes.

I play on my smartphone as well, but I have not yet gotten into the habit of using its bookmarks menu yet - my point being that everyone has their own way of doing things.

I'm for the suggestion - I can see how it would make it easier to access the site (at least for some), and I don't see how it could inconvenience others.

Also,

Is that app available to the public? If so, how do I get it?

It's not public.

You can make your own apps on the iPhone for websites. I called it an app, but it's really just a shortcut on my phone. It's not hard to do. If you have the page open (in Safari for the iPhone) that you want on your home screen, click the middle button at the bottom of the screen and a tab pops up. One of the options is 'Add to Homescreen'

That's all I did.

Wow. I can't believe I didn't know that.

I had just been keeping CC open in my browser so I wouldn't have to type in the full address.

Thank you.

I understand there are a number of apps that do that, and I'm not aware of how computers could read them - my point was if you had the qr code on the homepage, you would need a computer to access the homepage to enable the smartphone to scan the code - if I was to do that I would just use the computer I opened the homepage on???

I would say yes and no!. It will act like a bookmark and but be a bookmark in the browser. you can save the qr image file in your phone and use that image to open any website. also if you want to show somebody any site you can have them scan the qr image of of your phone rather then have them type in the browser. the qr scanner will automatically resolve the code and open the site in the browser.
I also suggest that qr image be available in the social sites CC maintains that way anyone visiting these sites can open up the CC homepage "automagically" ;)
