I'm playing a game of Hive FoW for the first time and I find it to be very illegible and lacking of a proper overview. Without colour codes it's very hard for me to tell the difference between certain colours and with them on, I can't see a clear difference between two question marks and a letter-number in a certain colour (in which case Grey really is nawt helping). I've been thinking and there are several ways to solve this.
- Make the territories that one owns stand out more. This can be done by e.g. bolding or underlining the armies in your own territories.
- In FoW, DON'T put two question marks in an unknown territory. Instead use only one. I never saw the use of putting two of them in there, and now that I've come to play this map it is really getting on my nerve because I have no overview at all.
I'm a big fan of the second one. Mainly because it is very effective (I think) but also because it is fairly easy to script (I think... just replace "??" with "?").
Also, I know it is probably the "big deal" of the Hive map to not have an overview, but I think I should be able to distinguish which territories are mine and which are not.
FoW in Hive map is illegible, we could solve stuff like that

Go to tools and enhancements, download the BOB tool. It has a feature which allows you make the map more transparent which makes your troops stand out. It also allows you to hover over a player and see their territories, and identifies bonuses that you hold.

As for hive there isn't much of an overview to give. I might not understand what you mean by overview, but the different colored clusters give bonuses. The larger the cluster the bigger the bonus. The honey storage cells attack eachother the bolded lines are impassable.

I know how I can attack. I just would like to know where my troops are. I could recognise them if they looked like clusters of 2 symbols in a sea of single question marks, but right now, it´s a mess. That is why I am a fan of the second suggestion.shocked439 wrote:As for hive there isn't much of an overview to give. Take a screen shot and post it. wait a few rounds if you think people will take some unfair advantage, then post it. This way the rest of us can see what you are seeing, get an idea why it is a problem. Most of us have never played hive on fog as the grey player

Would this be considered a bug for this user? I've played a lot of Hive (one game is sometime too much on Hive) and never had the double question mark. I kind of see how being hte grey player could be an issue, but we have visibility problems on maps like Poker, too, right?
