Colbie Cup [winner - wrexham]

Postby robcolbie on Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:17 am

Hi I'm looking to set up my first tournament and I need players to play in it.
I need 16 people for a 1v1 standard singles, classic map. moves are sequencial and troops are auto. reinforcements are unlimited and spoils are escalating. its open to all players and will start within 3 days of it being full. its a simple knockout winner stays in. the first round will be random then it will be a case of winner of 1 plays 2 etc. final will be best of 3. as I said its my first tournament so any advice is welcome

Thanks to all the players who played in the tournament and made it a success by not dropping out.

Some advice as you asked.
  • You are missing spoils and reinforcements
  • Freestyle is less preferred 1v1 setting so you might consider changing it to sequential. Especially as it's your first tournament, there's less hassle with Sequential
  • Tournament format needs to be explained. Is it a simple bracket (win 1, advance - best of 3 series - double elimination - etc)? Is it some kind of round robin?
  • How are games/groups formed? Either randomly (random.org helps you here) or by points?

This should cover basics. Think about these points and make changes to your first post where needed.

Good luck with your first tournament, hope it will be a success! :)

Sure thing :) Glad it helped! If you have any more questions then send me a message.

I actually forgot one thing - map(s)! You should post what map you are going to use (or maps if you want to use a different one for every round).

I have a suggestion as well--you have one game and you are out--I think this is ok for rounds 1, 2 and even the semi finals, but I would make the finals 2of3 --just a suggestion

all in and that sounds good. do you usually set up all the final matches at the same time with that or play 1 by 1?

I usually send all three at the same time, but you can do it anyway you want to.

If a freemium makes the final--I just let them know they have to at least be playing one game after the other.

Three games just takes a little luck out of it
