GA medal winner 1: blinkadyblink GA medal winner 2: moya
The Decathlon is a collection of 10 track and field events which aim to test a competitors speed, endurance and stamina, the winner of this event is often described as 'the greatest athlete in the World'.
Specialism in one event alone will not win the Decathlon. This collection of 10 settings and maps will test your ability to blast past opponents quickly in the 100m sprint, slog it out in the 8-man 1500 metres, go head-to-head as the bar gets higher in the high jump and you will face the danger of flying javelins and shots as we go nuclear.
The tournament directors have granted 2 General Achievement Medals to be awarded in conjunction with this tournament. One for the winner of the High Jump, marking the half-way point of the programme of events and one for the winner of the Javelin, which is the final event.
- To be eligible for the GA Medal you have to participate in all 10 events (or all events since you joined as a reserve up to and including the final event). - If the winner of the event has not participated in all 10 events, it goes to the highest finisher who did compete in all events.
Random.org will select the starting line ups for each event. I plan to run two track events at all times, this means you will only need 2-4 slots, however this is a fairly long tournament, so premium is highly recommended.
Scoring: Each event carries a score between 700 and 1000 dependant on your finishing place. See the individual event descriptions for the full details.
On your marks, set, go. We start with the sprint, 100 metres of Doodle Earth track between you and the finish line. Simply win two heats of escalating cards and you'll be in the Final.
Heat 1 = 16 groups of 4, winners only progress. Heat 2 = 4 groups of 4, winners only progress. Final = 1 match of 4 players.
Winner gets 1000 points. 3 players in the final get 925, 950, and 975 according to the order in which they were eliminated. Similarly the players eliminated in the earlier rounds get points according to the order they were knocked out. Elimination in heat 2 gains 850, 875 or 900 points and elimination in heat 1 gains 750, 775 or 800
In the track and field Decathlon, the 1500 metres is the final event, however given that in this tournament it is likely to be the longest, I've slotted in it early on and it will be contested alongside the other events. 8 players start out on World 2.1 - remember to pace yourself, if you set off too fast it might all end in tears.
Heat 1 = 8 groups of 8 players, winner of each group progresses to the Final. Final = 1 match of 8 players.
Winner gets 1000 points, 7 Runners-up get 900 points, 56 players eliminated in Heat 1 get 800 points
Into the second half of the competition and we can see again. The 400 metres is the medium paced event, with 4 players on the Classic map using 'middle of the road' settings.
Heat 1 = 16 groups of 4 players, final 2 players left standing in each group progress. Heat 2 = 8 groups of 4 players, final 2 players left standing progress. Heat 3 = 4 groups of 4 players, winners only progress. Final = 1 match of 4 players.
Winner gets 1000 points. 3 players in the final get 925, 950, and 975 according to the order in which they were eliminated. Similarly the players eliminated in the earlier rounds get points according to the order they were knocked out. Elimination in heat 3 gains 825 or 875, heat 2 either 750 or 775 and heat 1 either 700 or 725.
Last, but certainly not least, the Javelin. It's terminator time on Feudal War Epic with 8 players using those nuclear cards to hit each other. Ouch!
Heat 1 = 8 groups of 8 players, final 4 players left standing in each match progress. Heat 2 = 4 groups of 8 players, final 4 players left standing progress. Heat 3 = 2 groups of 8 players, final 4 players left standing progress. Final = 1 match of 8 players.
Winner gets 1000 points. 7 players in the final get 900, 914, 928, 943, 957, 971 and 986 according to the order in which they were eliminated. Similarly the players eliminated in the earlier rounds get points according to the order they were knocked out. Elimination in heat 3 gains points between 800-900, heat 2 between 750-800 and heat 1 between 700-750.
I will look for reserves if needed when setting up the first two rounds. Beyond that, players dropping out will be deemed to be 'injured' and byes will be awarded to those facing them 1v1. 4 player and 8 player games would become 3 player or 7 player games respectively. The points score will assume the injured player has been eliminated by their drawn opponent.
I would like the tournament to finish, but am allowing quite a high cap on the number of rounds: 8 player games will be capped at 80 rounds, 4 player games at 60 rounds and 2 player games at 40. Once the round number is reached, the player with the highest troop count at that point will be the winner, and the other players ranked if needed.
I'm hoping the points system will give a clear winner, but if one or more players are tied there will be a final game(s) played on the 400 metres settings

As players are knocked out of each round, their score will be confirmed in Green below. A Grey score shows the minimum you can achieve and assuming I've updated, means that you are still involved in that round.

Important Tournament Notice
The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.
