bracket update
Ok... we have another completed game and are now just waiting for battle 1 to finish so we can move on to Round 2....
Congratulations to Atlantic Alliance for their victory...
They'll be going up against Truculent Alliance in round 2...
Hmmm... I'm wondering if they'll all just decide to be "allies" and maybe just go have a 'spot of tea'?
(damned yanks!)
So far we've got those two teams going head-to-head and:
Stars & Bars Forever taking on the Robert E. Lee Army, and
Rebel Yell going against The Horde.
The 166th PA Vols are waiting for the winner of Battle 1.
Edwin G (of the 166th PA Vols) has an interesting reason his team is called that. -If you've got a moment it's worth checking out the chat in Game #1638205.
Anyways, thanks to everyone for participating and we'll move on ASAP!

I'm fine with letting the other battles begin. BluU and I will finish off our next opponents very quickly and so there's really no need to delay. The 166th Pennsylvania Volunteers were very successful during the Civil War, so there's no reason to expect anything less today.

are other people within the tournament supposed to enter a game in progress that are not playing the game but are part of the tournament supposed to say anything concerning strategy to 1 team when the strategy could be used next turn?
this concerns battle 1 for which EdwinG is waiting to end
"2008-02-07 01:01:40 - EdwinG: Mrs. Semper, I'm not sure I understand the logic of your last turn. You could have put all 7 armies on Maryland and then attacke Wiggin's ships (9 vs. 5). Then using your armies on Missouri you could have eliminated Wiggin to get his 3 cards."

I agree this is inappropriate.DblTbl wrote:are other people within the tournament supposed to enter a game in progress that are not playing the game but are part of the tournament supposed to say anything concerning strategy to 1 team when the strategy could be used next turn?

To comment in the game is fine, but to discuss tactics, potential moves, etc. can bring light to something that one or more players within the game may not have noticed.
A warning P.M. is being sent to EdwinG; A second offense will result in team disqualification.

Congratulations to Atlantic Alliance in a hard-fought game against Truculent Alliance.
Battle 1 has proven to be one hell-of-a battle! Hats off to the remaining players in this game, each without a partner.

Just so everyone knows in advance... Battles 13 & 14 will both begin at the same time.
So there may be a period of waiting for those teams who've already made it to these Round 3 games.
Battle 1 is still in progress and turning out to be a pretty epic match!
I don't want to rush them, as I wouldn't want to feel rushed in my games.
But if it hasn't wrapped-up within the next couple days I'll ask them to arrange a time that the remaining players can finish it in real time.

Congrats to Stars & Bars Forever
Fireside Poet and Dixie seemed to have the early advantage in Battle 10, but Luv2tri2 and Eastside (The Robert E. Lee Army) came back strong and looked like they'd take it...
In the end, Dixie, minus a partner, somehow managed to pull off the victory in a game that was well-played on all parts!
Stars and Bars Forever will now play Rebel Yell! to see who represents the South in the Championship Game!
I'm pulling for Rebel Yell!, but only because that's me and my partner, Suzy1!
Get ready for some Civil War Shock and Awe!

Dixie performed a classic surgical wedge. After taking me out, she just created a chasm so that blue and yellow would not connect and therefore couldn't share armies... and the 10 sets helped.Elijah S wrote:Fireside Poet and Dixie seemed to have the early advantage in Battle 10, but Luv2tri2 and Eastside (The Robert E. Amen!
We're both looking forward to our game too.
Battle 1 has slowed the Tourny down a lot, and we still have to wait for the outcome of whoever wins that vs. The 166th PA Vols, but we're definitely pulling for the South to prevail in the Final!
Battle 1 decided!
Congratulations to team "Rebel Killers" in pulling off a well-deserved victory in Battle 1!
This game was hard-fought and took several turns over the past few weeks.
I'll update the brackets and set up the game between Rebel Killers and The 166th PA Vols later this afternoon.
The finals will begin following the conclusion of their game.

Next battle
The 166th PA Volunteers will do their best to make quick work of the Rebel Killers. Then we can get on with the semi-final games

Great win Dbl, that was a very tough game and you managed to pull it off. Good luck to both teams in your 2nd round of play!
Now that Battle 1 is over, I've created the games and sent the passwords to Rebel Killers and The 166th PA Vols so that they can get on with their Round 2 game.
I'm betting the remaining teams, Atlantic Alliance in particular, will be watching this game closely!
The brackets have been updated. Remember - Refresh your screen to view the updated version.
We started with 32 teams and after one of the teams in Battle 9 takes care of business, we'll be down to 4, and the Semi-finals.
Thanks again to all who've participated and Good Luck to the remaining teams!
