There are sites with free PD textures... But anyway, I think the wood is actually good. It's the most recognizable. If you had a white plastic table for example, then it wouldn't necessarily be as recognizable as a table. A wooden texture makes it kinda obvious that the map is sitting on a wooden table.a.sub wrote:ok so i have been experimenting, but to no avail, i cant make glass, plastic or anything as realistic as the wood.

I think an ashtray with cigarettes near the map or part of one would be enough to give the idea "thugs" were planning the heist. Is that kind of the feel you were talking about, R?

wow i NEVER play that map. I actually had to go look at ita.sub wrote:wont that seem like a copy of oaktown's route 66 tho?
I'm fine with it the way it is. But maybe like a crowbar holding it down as a paperweight? or a magnum? ohhhhh yeahhhhh..... can you make it so there is a gun holding down the map? that would be sweet ass sweet.
Re: Conquer National Bank - Updated P25 [D]
dude totally, but doe someone want to email me a pic of their own gun on a white table so i dotn have to go hunting for a royalty free image?
Re: Conquer National Bank - Updated P25 [D]
Would, except I don't own a gun.a.sub wrote:dude totally, but doe someone want to email me a pic of their own gun on a white table so i dotn have to go hunting for a royalty free image?
It has been forever since I've commented on the map, so I can't remember any of my previous comments, but I'll try to do some commenting.
The wood texture for the table overall I think looks good. The only thing though is that the highlights and shadows between look a little too bright/dark. It is additionally a bit to bright and happy (lol I can't tell you why, but it gives the effect of being bright and happy to me). Maybe decrease the saturation a bit, maybe messing with the color to adjust it slightly? If you are trying to do something different than the wood, you could even just try like a metal table with screws in the corners, something that is good but fits.
The text on the notes seems more like it is floating than anything. It just doesn't curve with the paper, as it actually would. Try writing something out on paper, and then try curling the corners (Basically do like what you've done here), and you should see that the text doesn't just stay straight. The words, as they get closer to the curl, would most likely be twisted a bit, going along the general flow of the paper. Decreasing the opacity could help a bit also, but mostly the lack of curvature on the words as they approach the curled part of the paper detracts from the overall effect.
It seems a bit weird that the outline of the bank would have a different texture than the paper it was drawn on. Generally anything drawn on rough paper (As the texture of this seems to be) would keep a bit of that rough texture.
The slightly visible door curves between rooms can be a bit confusing, but mainly to me between Anthony and Mo. THe door curve just seems to cut off that line, making it a little confusing on first glance as to wether it can actually be attacked (Closer inspection and logic though does show that you can attack Mo to Anthony and vice versa)
You may have trouble fitting double digits on the stashes (Though they are rigged to kill a man off each stash, even if someone say takes stash 1 with 15 men, that there is a double digit that doesn't fit).
The wick of the dynamite looks like felt... wouldn't it be thinner, with light and dark shadows on it?
Overall the map very busy and can be confusing. but I hope someday to see it in play
Re: Conquer National Bank - Updated P25 [D]
so i fixed everything other than the text, because i have to mess with it a bit more, (i tried and made it worse so i need to tinker with it a bit more) and the Dynamite, because im going to look up a quick tutorial on how to make a proper one.

what do you guys think? make it the new version?

Got to be honest man, I did not know that was dynamite until you told me so.
It looked like some random red object. I think it needs to be more in the picture, but looks pretty good otherwise.

I think either/both would be cool as long as you could tell what it was.a.sub wrote:what if i replaced that with the gun?
Re: Conquer National Bank - Updated P25 [D]

scattered bullets would be cool.natty_dread wrote:I'd say the best option would be some bullets.
Re: Conquer National Bank [G]
OH NO! the shadows in the corners disappeared! If you didn't like them, then pehaps make the map under torchlight instead.rishaed wrote:that last version looks a bit too bright for my comfort maybe darken it just a smidge ?
Re: Conquer National Bank [G]
Yeah bullets, the butt of gun, a crowbar maybe would likely be better than a stick of TNT that in general is just a random red lump.
