easy with the rhetoric tough guy... he's making the point that there are several different symbols that resemble (some closer than others) the symbol in question, and these other symbols presumably would offend few if any...

Its not the symbol that offends it is what it represents.

Also arguing and supporting its use is also offensive.

did you read any of the proceeding threads? No one is supporting nazis guy... and if someone supports nazis, who are you to say they can't? I'm sure there is something about your belief structure that would offend people... I don't think you should have to defend it though.. I don't support nazis (duh), but I live in a free country, so as distasteful as it is, I support their right to their views... And your attitude is becoming offensive...

if anybody really thinks this image is offensive then he truly is a moron. or a nazi. i can see how this image would offend a nazi. heck, if i were a nazi i wouldn't want to see the swastika being burned and i surely wouldn't want people supporting a show that portrayed the nazi-resistance movement in belgrade.

so basically whoever says this avatar should be banned is:

actually 6 million jews died. the number of victims (including jews) is much higher.
you're forgetting about the many other millions of russians, poles, czechs, greeks, serbians, romanians, heck it didn't even matter what country you were from if you were a prisoner of war, a gipsy, a communist, a homosexual or even a handicapped.
yeah lots of jews died but even more from other nations died too. it's just that nobody mediated this aspect so much.

If you read the complete thread you will see I understand the avatar is a film set depicting resistance to the Nazi regime.

I am not a moron and do find the Nazi symbol offensive.

well good for you mate. it's your view and i respect it.
one of my great grandfathers died fighting the nazi and another one was taken prisoner and never heard of. most likely executed or taken to a concentration camp where eventually he died.

do i find the swastika offensive? not at all. why would i? it's just a symbol. that symbol did not kill my great grandfathers, some people did. misguided people will always kill other people regardless of the banner they wave.

so if you want to be offended by something then be offended by a person acting like a nazi not by a symbol.

the christians massacred lots of innocent people during the crusades. the nazis killed, the communists killed. heck, during the history you'll always find somebody killing somebody else and it's always for a stupid reason ranging from religion, to political views or to oil.
hey, let's start hating all those symbols. i'm pretty sure that if we check out the history we'll find plenty of reasons to hate eachother.

In the context of freakns avatar in itself the whole image is not offensive. The Nazi symbol is. In the interest of respecting the dead who died under this oppressive symbol and to honor those who gave their lives to rid the world of this regime can we show some sensitivity and just get rid of it. Please.

Freakns avatar celebrates those people who died and were oppressed by the Nazi regime. Should we hide the fact that these terrible massacres happen and not honor those people who died? Grow up. This happened and it is better to talk about it and discuss then to hide the fact that it happened. By removing the swastika, we are hiding the fact that the Nazi's did a terrible thing. We can't hide it, but we shouldn't celebrate it either. The avi is not celebrating the horrible things that were done but the freedom and the destruction of the people who were doing terrible things.

The point is the avatar has a banned symbol in it. I am sure if you had suffered the Blitz you would also be typically British where the Nazi symbol is concerned.

By the way, my wife is British, well English, and she is not offended by the symbol. She was born and raised in the UK, only moving here in 2010.

Did you read this thread at all? Did you not read where the avatar in question is about resisting the Nazis? The Yugoslavians fought the Nazis with everything they had. The Germans occupied their country, but never "defeated" them. That avatar is actually anti-Nazi, a symbol of resistance, and a way of honoring the Yugoslavian people who gave their lives fighting against the Nazis.

Nobody here is glorifying Nazism, nobody is praising them. You obviously don't understand.

Quite simple really. I don't believe you can be much of an authority to speak of Belsen when you don't even know how to spell it correctly, so it's safe to say you aren't particularly well-read on the subject. I on the other hand am, as my library would testify. So whilst each is entitled to his opinion, I believe mine to be better-founded through knowledge and learning.

And whilst I'm not posting anything objectionable, you on the other hand are (as the myriad of posters speaking out against you would show). To join a war gaming site whose proliferation of maps mostly relate to WW2 and then take offence at a swastika on an avatar just shows that you're deluding yourself and perhaps shouldn't be here in the first place.
