Come on, Loose. I'm counting on you. Where do we go, in your opinion, if Charle is a mislynch? With whom is he in cahoots if he's scum?

@Son!c, when's the exact deadline? Under 12 hours is a margin that I might f*ck up, but if you tell me the exact deadline, I can push my agenda a bit longer. Cheers.

Rag, we have to assess and reassess d1 posts if we lynch charle whatever he flips, then decide who to press for in order to assess others more.

(Also there might be evidence or a say from archivist)

Ive felt progressively more confident on charle from the nature of his reactions to pressure but that is admittedly virtually indistinguishable from tunnelling as you know

The other thing is rag lets say charle does flip circle.

You will come under some pressure - but i have rightly or wrongly a stronger house than circle feel about you.
Hjelp will come under some pressure.
King ought to come under pressure too.
And on the premise that a circle charle will flip patron, kong ought then to come under most scutiny of all.

But 3 of the 4 above would be strong assets for house if house

This is peak Mafia dinner-party chaos!

Some have achieved the quantum Mafia stage (both “Charle is definitely scum” and “I might just be staring at a wall” at the same time).

The BIG question (for everybody besides Charles) at hand is: is Charles the Patron?

If yes, House is in a very strong spot to win the end game!

Or is he merely The Secretary? Or..?

So moments before deadline, will the soup be Charles Consommé?

A consommé is a rich, crystal-clear gourmet soup made from a concentrated stock or broth that has been thoroughly clarified. In French usage the word dates back to the fourteenth century as the past participle of consommer , meaning consumed, accomplished or finished.

In classic fine-dining pairing:
Mulligatawny (rich, spiced, somewhat heavy) wants a more robust fortified white wine like sherry.

Consommé (clear, delicate, light) needs a crisp, mineral white wine like Chablis.

Because Chablis is the textbook pairing for clear soups and light dishes. It’s dry, high-acid, and elegant, clean, crisp finish, a unoaked Chardonnay from the Chablis region in northern Burgundy.

These qualities make it one of the few wines that can sit next to a clear broth without dominating it. The acidity cuts through any residual fat, the minerality echoes the clarity of the soup, and the lack of heavy oak or sweetness keeps the pairing refined.

So: Is Charles going to be "Consommé soup" (accompanied by Chablis white wine) before the clock strikes seven?

Only Consommé Charles..will clear that question!

Or is town about to eat one of it's own?

I find that somewhat helpful, somewhat evasive. Do you not think that you'll feel any pressure either way he flips?

Anyway, I'm ready to hammer. I'll do it before leaving to pick up the wee lad because I fear I'll forget it tonight. I'm leaving in an hour or so, so now is the time if you want to have anything to say before that happens. (Or if you want to hijack the hammer and make me look bad.)

I will feel pressure to redouble my efforts, and listen initial phase if d2 if charle flips house

Whilst also unapoologetically blaming the victim of course.

I know rags there is a soft heart beneath that scowling exterior. And perhaos it strikes you i may have been bullying charle somewhat. But you did feel sorry for max once remember.

WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER D1:

Charle was halfway through explaining, with great seriousness, why the Mulligatawny still needed more black pepper when he suddenly raised his hand and double-voted for himself. The table went silent. A waiter froze mid-pour.

Loose Canon regarded him carefully.

“Charle, my good man” he said, “you just voted yourself into the soup i believe?.”

Charle blinked, deleted the vote with the speed of a man who had just realised the rest of the table was watching, and replied, with firm voice:

“That was just a ten-minute draft. You may Ignore the draft my dear gentlemen and ladies.”

“Ten minutes is a long draft,” HottBunnie replied. “Unless you’re some sort of typo-stutterer, Cha-Cha-Cha Charles?

Do you need help finding the key-key-keyboard or the right le-le-letters?

Or do you simply need a glass of Cha-Cha-Cha Chablis?”

Charle answered with utmost dignity. “No, no, no, my heavens no. I’m no typing stutterer, mind you. I was merely distracted for a brief moment. You see I thought I heard an urgent phone call from my boss, but the mobile phone will not be invented for another hundred years or so, I do believe.”

“From your boss?,” HottBunnie said. “From your boss from 2026 on a mobile phone?” "What a wonderfully dry sense of humor you have dear Charles. I so appreciate your lively perspective. You're such a captivating raconteur."

“Yes, my lady - while some of us here have posted entire accusations in less than ten minutes,” Charles continued. “Some of us,” Charle said, “have also posted entire far-fetched accusations that were either utterly wrong or completely foolish nonsense in my eyes, so deeply detached from reality that they should remain legendary examples of collective foolishness or spectacular miscalculations for the entire evening! They just defy common sense you see. Completely silly hypotheses while the mundane, probable hypotheses are ignored.

A serious case of cockamamie if you ask me. Ridiculous, pointless, or nonsensical, full of wild schemes and coo-coo-coo ideas. Im not stuttering on the "coo-coo-coo" my dear
(while blinking his eye towards HottBunnie).

Charles said all this in the most sophisticated way, and with gestures of true high standards of formal dining etiquette. All eyes were on him. Such a fine example of fine dining etiquette:

• Punctuality: Arrive on time—no more than 10 minutes early and never a single second late, as the soup is already placed on the table the moment dinner is announced.
• Bread Rules: Never cut bread with a knife to avoid scattering crumbs across the table or onto ladies' shoulders; break it with your fingers instead. Never use bread to mop up your bowl or sauce, which is social suicide.
• Handling Food & Pits: Do not touch food with your hands, with the sole exception of bread. Fruit must be pre-peeled by the host and eaten using a fork and dessert knife. If eating cherries, discreetly bring a dessert spoon to your mouth to receive the pit rather than spitting it into your hand or plate.
• Soup & Second Helpings: Never ask for a second helping of soup, never tip your plate to get the last drop, and never make noise.
• Conversation Topics: Keep conversation general, pleasant, and balanced. Do not monopolize the talk, turn a dinner party into a private tête-à-tête, or bring up divisive or heavy subjects like politics, religion, or personal romantic troubles.
• Posture and Attention: Never turn your back on or ignore adjacent guests. Keep toasts brief and raise your flute without clinking glasses.

The silence after stretched just long enough for the waiter to remember he was still holding the bottle. He finished the pour with exaggerated care, then retreated two steps. Some could simply not look away from Charles. Rested their chin on one hand, elbow on the tablecloth, and studying Charle the way a man studies a menu.

“I only meant the Chablis as a kindness, Charles,” Hottbunnie said. “Some men need a little lubrication before they can admit they meant the thing they just un-meant. Others simply need the room to stop looking at them".

”Charle smoothed an invisible crease in his cuff. His voice, when it came, was still carefully even.

“The room may look as long as it likes. I have already said what the draft was. The rest is performance. And I have always preferred the mundane explanation to the theatrical one.”

TO BE CONTINUED!

It was only after that Charle moment that somebody noticed Kingm. He had fallen asleep some time ago. Not the ordinary kind of asleep, the kind that can be nudged back to life with a sharp “Kingm?” or the clink of a glass. This was the deeper, more committed variety.

His head had begun the long, slow descent into a vast sleep some hours earlier, tipping forward more and more with every hour. The table, occupied with votes and glasses and the pressing matter of Charle’s ten-minute Cha-Cha-Cha draft, did not immediately register this peculiar event..

It was simply assumed that Kingm had drunk too much sherry, the Barbadillo Versos 1891 cask from Jerez that was served and just needed a little snooze to recover.

Only when a floating cracker completed a full, unhurried orbit around his Mulligatawny-submerged nose and an awkward final “burp” bursted forth in his soup plate did anyone truly look.

Kingm, with his final breath that produced that undignified burp, had come to complete rest with his forehead in the Mulligatawny, the quiet finality of a ship docking, and the surface of the soup had closed gently around his nose. The soup was still, without a single ripple, wave, or bubble on its surface..

It was, everyone later agreed, a dreadful way to die.

To drown in Mulligatawny soup heads down in the plate during a fine dining event!.? With a burp? Good heavens, old chap!

“I presume,” said Annieh, studying the angle of the neck with scientific interest, “that the soup has his vote now?”

“Has anyone checked,” Hjelp asked, “whether the soup is perhaps Circle-aligned?”

A waiter approached, assessed the situation with a weary eye, and decided this particular removal would require both hands, a second waiter, and possibly a formal announcement.

“Kingm,” the waiter said carefully, “appears to have drowned after he snored into the Muddigatawny broth.”

“He snored into it?”

“Yes, I’m afraid so, and quite vigorously too,” the waiter confirmed.

"Did his final snore sound guilty?” Hjelp inquired.

“Not sure about the guilty part good sir, but definitely moist I presume,” “Yes, Distinctly moist. And, if I may say so, also final" the waiter said with Scottish accent.

”Then the waiter cleared his throat.

“Kingm,” he said, with the careful precision of a man delivering news he would rather not deliver, “has been modkilled!”

Then Charles arrived and took his card out (but forgot to open it)...

CHARLE: “Hey, we have a host whose eyes are only for the Hot Bunnies in the manor. Well, that’s probably also ok, as long as they don’t quote their cards. Annie seems to be the naughty one with HotBunnie. It would not surprise me if they were put together? Come on, Ragian. None of us know what’s in any game when Son!c hosts?..

A round of white wine everyone? *Goes to grab wine bottles*

So Charle is still able to stay and chat, just with no vote? I've been confused about the wording on the Heir card.

"A later invitation refuses you" - does this mean he could have refused an invitation? Who is refusing what? House should be the one refusing so the wording "refuses you" makes everything sound backwards to me.

"The opening choice and the knife do not" - does the knife mean circle killing power or something else? Opening choice functions differently from other choice? He can be taken secretary so we know it's not a full refusal of all circle things... Sounds like maybe a lot to say "can't be selected as secretary, can be invited later, can be killed."

I did try asking our host. He gave me no answers but assured me the heir understood the role. Charle can you clear things up about what's the knife and what you know about different kinds of invitations?

*Returns to table with arms full of bottles and begins expertly popping corks and sending white wine around the table*

I don't know what the spelling of muddigatawny would signify. Maybe 2 D looked at with 3 P means something.

ssssshhh! It's still night!

As the spelling of "muddigatawny" : that is just a joke

Why the Mulligatawny got Muddy:

Not because of;
• Lentil Breakdown: Using split red or brown lentils without rinsing or cooking them properly can cause them to disintegrate completely into a thick, opaque paste.
• Starch & Flour: Adding flour as a roux (like in some Westernized adaptations) combined with potatoes or rice can make the broth heavy and cloudy.
• Over-Blending: Blending the entire pot (including lentils and vegetables) instead of just a portion can turn a bright, brothy curry soup into a thick purée.

No, The soup became Muddi gatawny when a very committed Norwegian quietly drowned into it deciding the soup needed more… body.
