Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
I think that the on-way attack should go from Ankawhatever in the blue region instead of A-M in the orange. This would help eliminate that bottleneck.
As for the little region at the top, perhaps you could have another one-way attack/bombard from somewhere down South??

Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
The one way attack arrow looks fantastic.
Personally thou I prefer version with the "vallays" between regions. They help keep the maps character compared with the non "valley" ones which look a little flat.
Reducing the bevel texture was also a good call. Now its strong enought to break up falt colours while being subtle enought so that its not to intrusive.
The southern most mountain region still has the mountains to close together, I think they need to be spaced out a little more still.
Overall your maps potential is shining through and your doing well. Keep going bud

hooray for the arrow! i told you it would find a home, gim!
Moving the one way attack to come from the blue makes sense.
But the larger concern seems to be that the top of the map is the better start... looking at it, I can see that putting the two smallest regions next to each other could be fine in big games, where two players get the bonuses and fight it out between them, but potentially bad in smaller games where one player gets both bonuses and overruns the rest of the map.
ideas??
edit: here are some...
1. split the three-terit region into a four, but leave it a +2.
2. give a +1 bonus for holding the capital, adding value to the center region (if you add a terit elsewhere you can start it neutral)

i think that the best way i can get ideas accross is to show them.
thanks
lol
) into Sava or Diana? that could also be a 1 way attack so the top region could be more breakable?
also - the capital bonus - would that still be part of the blue cont or wuold it be separate?
thanks everyone who posted things for me

ok will do - BUT what i need to know is: will the new terit be within the cont (i.e not touching any other cont) or would it be on the outside and boardering another cont - like will it be used to defend the cont aswel?oaktown wrote: 1. split the three-terit region into a four, but leave it a +2.

Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
alright, i see you've got your work cut out for you, but here's one more thing... the trees look much nicer in the legend than they do on the map, because they are spaced out a bit and you can make out that they are trees. On the map they blur together.
Capital: it was just a thought, and one you don't have to implement. I would say make it part of the blue bonus, and don't add a territory but jut assign a +1 bonus, auto-deployed perhaps, to that territory. You could do the same elsewhere if it give additional value to parts of the map other than the far north for things like the main airport, seaport, etc.

im working on an update now
Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
Taking out some of the most northern mountains might help open up the north a bit. (I can't tell you the names of the territories that would be affected, as I can't see the maps in the thread preview) - just by opening the play between green/orange might help??
Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
thanks benny boy
the update may be a bit late as my PS is being really annoying and not opening in time - it took 1hour for the comp to open the madagascar file - and even longer to open a brush of any kind!
so ill try do it on another computer or try again tomorrow
i will get a few different versions up so you can see what is good

Re: Madagascar- V9 Page 1&20 colour changed
ok here we go, a few versions:
i have airports, (not very good though)

harbours instead:

a new terit added to orange cont and the new attack route:

i dont really like the arrow on that one
and oak - here is one with the trees more defined:

Re: Madagascar- Page 1&22 - +UPDATE 4VERSIONS+
Hmm..
I'm not keen on the airport logo - it looks totally out of place, and I'm not convinced the map is big enough for airports.
The harbours/ports are a little better, although I still think they look out of place, and a bit like an afterthought.
For some reason, I think that something like a catapault would fit the style of the map a bit more. I'd want to see it based on/in Haut (?) in the yellow region though - somewhere more central.
I'd still have a look at opening up the mountain range between the green/orange/pink area at the top - the intention being to make the green area slightly harder to get early on, as this is the area that appears to be key to the map.
I like the addition of the new territory in orange. It looks like a good fit.

Re: Madagascar- Page 1&22 - +UPDATE 4VERSIONS+
no not a catapulat lol
I quite like having a capital idea in the south and giving it +1 or as i said earlier, ading a few more regions and a bonus down south!!!
or instead of a capital, make it a national park and get +1 for it??

do you say that it should be a stand-alone terit (not part of any cont) or a terit in itself?
i like that idea - i think ill add it next version - start as neutral?
do i need to put that it starts neurtal in the legend?
Re: Madagascar- Page 1&22 - +UPDATE 4VERSIONS+
national parks per hulemy's request:

EDIT:
the text is way too small on the legend i know

Re: Madagascar- Page 1&22 - +UPDATE 4VERSIONS+
Dpending on how you've drawn it, it shouldn't be too difficult to take out the mountains between Sofia and Analanjirofo. You could even make it so that Analanjirofo borders Mampikony too. That would help open the green area slightly.
I'm not convinced by the national park; I'd quite like some sort of ranged one-way attack/bombardment from the South to the North. I suggested a catapualt as I thought it might fit the look of the map?? In any case, I think this should be based in Ihorombe, which is slightly more central.
Finally, the whole island still doesn't quite blend in with the sea properly. Have you experimented with adding a slightly yellow (sand coloured) outer glow?

Re: Madagascar- Page 1&22 - +UPDATE 4VERSIONS+
the idea of a catapault is growing on me! (suprisingly) meaning the one way/bombardment gimick, but not a catapault because thats just a little too random
perhaps something more...normal! lol
i like the idea of the helipads on the malta map - maybe something like that?
i think we need more bonuses down south, 1 would do it-maybe splitting tolaria - although i really dont want to do that - i would prefer a helipad than that.
any ideas??
