So, you're trying to suggest that god Created man, makes him suffer, and judges him his reaction to this devine torment . . .because he was lonely![]()
God is indeed a bastard.
But ignorance to true happiness as well.

It would be the same as it is now except no pain. Adam worked the land after he was created. The Kurgan wrote:Norse wrote:Punching christians in the back of the head. Am i going to hell? The Kurgan wrote:

But seriously, the Garden of Eden seems like a bad place to be. Every day would be the same, no new challenges, just endless boredom.

But Valhalla on the other hand would be great...
Waking up every morning, fighting mortal battle until sunset, and magically remorphing just in time for a massive banquet and piss-up!
Then waking up the next morning and doing it all over again!

Valhalla would better because then at least you'll have a sense of accomplshment, because you take risks in battle. THEN you get the reward, meaning that you know you have to earn it.Norse wrote:But Valhalla on the other hand would be great...

yeah, I wasn't being sarcastic...
I think that most abrahamic religous thought is rather dull....It's as though they are trying to take any animal instinct away from an animal.

I hope this sheds a bit of light on the faith question.

If god does exist, then he does not need faith to survive. But if he doesn't exist and is merely a hypothetical or imaginary being then he does indeed need faith to exist, however as there is currently no means of proving gods existence there is no way of definitively proving whether he needs faith to survive. Although one could view it as if no one believed in god, we would not try to seek out a way to prove his existence and therefore he would vanish from our minds and even if he is real would cease to exist to us, the human race. Try to find a hole in that argument.

I'd like to know where you get the idea that an all-powerful being needs anything. The Kurgan wrote:Does God need faith to survive? <Not a trick question, just wondering>

Actually, both Roman Catholic and Orthodox are trying to heal the rift that began about 2000 years ago. Hence the reason why the Pope and the Head of the Orthodox religion (title escapes me) visited Turkey last summer.Huckleberryhound wrote:The Kurgan wrote:The Catholics don't think so. 1. They believe the Protestants are traitors.
2. Protestants don't confess.
3. Protestants don't listen to the Pope.
Not exactly true.
The catholic hierarchy think that all other christian faiths are not true faiths (including the orthadox religion for some silly reason), but i'm sure most of the flock don't really give a shit.
"Eh, whatever."

Because we need it. This isn't like computer games where praying to Gods makes THEM stronger - it makes US stronger. The Kurgan wrote:Then why do religious people pray?OnlyAmbrose wrote:I'd like to know where you get the idea that an all-powerful being needs anything. The Kurgan wrote:Does God need faith to survive? <Not a trick question, just wondering>

That may be true, but Pope Ratziger's last statement about "other churches" included all Non catholic religions....unless i'm wrong.muy_thaiguy wrote:Actually, both Roman Catholic and Orthodox are trying to heal the rift that began about 2000 years ago. You are wrong, actually, if you're referring to the statement in which he said that other denominations cannot rightly be called "churches". He said that any Orthodox church (Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, etc) all follow the apostolic succession and thus fall under the category of "true church".Huckleberryhound wrote:That may be true, but Pope Ratziger's last statement about "other churches" included all Non catholic religions....unless i'm wrong.muy_thaiguy wrote:Actually, both Roman Catholic and Orthodox are trying to heal the rift that began about 2000 years ago. Incidentally, this has always been Catholic doctrine, the pope just reaffirmed it.

AND HOLD ON A SECOND,
Catholic certainly do not believe that Protestants are going to Hell... that's a SORE misunderstanding of Catholic belief. Protestant baptisms are perfectly valid.

Really? <no sarcasm> That's weird, all the Catholics talk to tend to say that Protestants are going to Hell. Must be a weird church.OnlyAmbrose wrote:AND HOLD ON A SECOND,
