The only thing I don't like about the current set up is that you can't do anything to change your join date rank (other than the people in front of you leaving). I'm sure most CCers would go back and join earlier if they had known about the site, but of course thats not possible. Anyway, I would like to reward longevity equally to score and posts, so despite doing very well in two categories you can't be extremely weak in the third.DiM wrote:ok so in the triathlon i have
41 + 24*5 + 58369/8 = 41+120+7296=7457
so this means that even if i get to #1 on the score board and #1 in post count i will never enter such a top 5 because of the join date. kinda crazy if you ask me.
especially since sully said you must do well in 2 categs to get to the top. well i'm doing well in 2 and i'm still a long long way from getting in the top. in fact my only solution would be if all the people with a join date before me quit.
i think it would be better if the influence of the join date was diminished. it's not normal for a person to get #1 in post count and score and still be unable to get in that top.
basically what the current triathlon does is measure who of the first people that joined got more points and most points. all others are excluded from the start no matter how well they perform.
Joining in Feb. of last year is basically the same as having 1150 points or having 33 points so its not going to get you very high. The good news is that when you've been here for 2 years like lack and wicked, there will be many more total members compared to active members, so the factor of dividing by 8 would need to change. At the same time, some of the current oldest active members of the site will have left, and you'll move up a lot. If I calculated these numbers 10 months after I had joined I wouldn't have made the top 5 either (people who had been here longer would have been ahead of me).
Other good news: Sorting the scoreboard by games played, games won, feedback etc is on the to do list as pending. It will probably get added eventually, and when it does there will be other categories to balance out the current three.

Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.
