The goal of communism, in my opinion, is the elimination of social classes. It is obviously unfair that someone will own a business, get into a better college, have a better chance of going into politics, and have the legal system of the country they are living in on their side simply because their father was rich. That being said, equal redistribution of wealth is not the way to go about this process. It is undesirable to remove the incentives for competition and innovation that capitalism provides.
However, one must also view the issue from the perspective of working class during the industrial revolution: they could see that competition was already being stifled by ubiquitous monopolies, they felt a sense of hopelessness brought on by extremely meager wages, and saw their only way out as the creation of a "governmental monopoly" over all goods and services. When the desire to eliminate the aristocracy created by capitalism was combined with these neo-feudal intentions and a touch of command economy restrictions, communism was born. Was this communism undesirable? Yes, very much so. Progressives have since introduced anti-trust legislation and minimum wage laws, solving the second problem (though many economists would still argue against these reforms). Does this make the concern that capitalism fosters an aristocracy any less valid? No, but the way to solve this is not through penalizing people for their own ingenuity but just trying to penalize people for trying to profit off their parents' ingenuity.
The fact that you claim that capitalism is more virtuous than communism leads me to believe that you are joking but I thought I might as well respond.

I am glad you agree with me that the US is not a democracy but is it a fascist state?Strictly speaking no but ,as you said yourself ,if it walks like a duck .........
Hitler said broadcasting should have as little scientific ballast[truth] as possible and be aimed solely at the dumbest listener.Sounds like Fox to me.
As to your rights,I think you have signed them away with the Patriot Act,aiding a terrorist organistion means anything the goverment wants it to mean, bye bye human rights.
The US is a corporate state with fascist overtones but if you ever found a neo-con with charisma

I see a lot of people around here saying that communism/socialism isn't that bad. But how can you even be serious? It's just like being robbed every day.
Am I missing something, or is communism just the most retarded thing to ever grace the planet.
And the US is soooooo on it's way!

Yeah, I agree. It is much better to put the corporations in charge, and let the market determine who gets what. In fact, the market is so important that we should give all our money to the government so bureaucrats can keep the market running when it fails from greed, fraud, and stupidity. But, that is ok, it is a problem for our grandchildren 'cause we will all be dead when the bill comes due. All hail the market. All hail corporate control. All hail the business man, who knows how to solve problems and innovate through technology.

Vices and flaws completely absent from government employees of course, though businessmen on the other hand are completely stereotypical of them.mpjh wrote:keep the market running when it fails from greed, fraud, and stupidity

The market is "self governing" and creates an efficient allocation of resources on its own accord. Except when it doesn't.
Re: Communism sucks
I know this has been wrote a year ago but i thought i'd quote it and respond, so, depending on the type of communism this rule generally applies, e.g. Chinese modern Communism uses capitalism as a economic policy, so that rule of getting bumped generally refers to Soviet/Eastern bloc communism, which is used in NK today, so Chinese communism allows you with your' own skills to create your' own future economically, however still retains rules like not being allowed to follow religion to a certain extent.Dancing Mustard wrote:So I read about Communism in school yesterday, and I think it's the most retarded idea I've ever heard of. Re: Communism sucks
It doesn't when it isn't allowed to self govern. Otherwise, the most efficient solution to a problem is most likely to be found by the market, though by fluke, the government may occasionally find a better solution. The present crisis is a demonstration of a particularly brutal piece of negative feedback in response to intervention in the market in the form of artificial interest rate mismanagement.mpjh wrote:The market is "self governing" and creates an efficient allocation of resources on its own accord.
