Why is there a revamp the old map has no problem at all and in my opion looks better than this version. why you want all maps with soft colors?

The origonal cartographer had recieved a number of complaints over the athestics and geographic acuracy of his map ever since it was uploaded. Eventually he caved and put the thing up for revamp which i gained permission to carry out.

Why soft colors? because this is the way the community had it evolve. It started out very different from where its ended up.

they dotn all look the same, if you want the colors to be harder that would require changing most of the map to to suit your hard colors. THe map has made it to final forge becasue the community was satisfied with the visual appearence it currently has.

May i suggest that if you have a problem with a map, then get involved earlier in the process that way such issues are taken more seriously than in FF.

You werent passing comment, you where requesting a change, a change that would require a fair over haul of the map.

And that my point, if its the first time youve seen it then even though you have been active on the site and you know how the process works, you should be aware that major graphical and gameplay changes dont happen in final forge, unless theres some type of community uprising because a map slipped through the net and isnt graphically competant.

You didnt ask for a small change in color, you wanted me to move form soft to hard colors, effectivly a change in the feel of the map.

As for hte legends i dont understand how you cant identify one from another, the continenet boarder is the idential color to the legends insert for that continent, The continenet base color is then a transparent version of the same color used for hte boarders.

Well, I strongly disagree. This map has way better graphics. The older version didn't even has a water texture. The old one also spelled "Grampian" wrong. In my opinion, the graphics for the old one were kinda lame. Everybody else seems to like this one better also.

Not everyone. I, for one, have been strongly critical of this revamp, especially the fact that geographical extremists have had an undue hand in its development.

If nothing else, having a "borders' territory and a "lothian & borders" territory is just asking for trouble.... plus the "dumfries & galloway" is very cramped. Plus the border between Borders and Donegal could be cleaner. Plus I'm not wild about the Hadrian's Wall graphic. Plus I think that Yorkshire could be shrunk, making all of northern england easier to see. Plus the lake in Northern Ireland seems extraneous.

The impassibles look way better for the most part, but the fjord-ish thing cutting into ireland looks peculiar. Could that be made into a river or something?

I just want to comment on this part. Since the original guy asked for the revamp and the geographical extremists had the most complaints about it I find this fair.

I agree with the rest of your comments though about how things look. I'm sorry to say to gimil this isn't as close to finished as you may have thought.

Well, I strongly disagree. This map has way better graphics. The older version didn't even has a water texture. The old one also spelled "Grampian" wrong. In my opinion, the graphics for the old one were kinda lame. Everybody else seems to like this one better also.

Again as incandeza (SP?) and coleman said, renaming and resizing territories was a big part of this revamp.

I also agrree with Lone.prophet that the old one looked better- not every map needs a water texture

. But I don't mind it.

I also find the mountain and wall graphics horrendous.

The mountians have been passed and accepted by discussing already. The wall could use some work.

You comments for "the other map is better" does not belong here and does not help the process in the slightest.

Sorry for bringing up an old topic. I do find it horrendous, but my fault for not being here earlier to discuss it.
