OK.

Which major sports player is the last player in his league that can wear his jersey number? Who was the second-to-last?

I believe that was Jackie Robinson, but I don't know who's wore it second to last

No, it's someone that's still rocking 42... when mlb retired the number, anyone currently wearing it was grandfathered in.

Mariano Rivera is the last remaining person to wear No. 42. When he's done, so is the number.

The Yankees suck.

EDIT: I'm not sure about the second-to-last person to wear it.

I love hockey, and it's true, no one else in the NHL will ever wear 99 again. So technically, I believe djt5483 was correct, eh?

I'm sorry, I even checked to make sure the Great One's number was still in, I thought it was. My bad if I'm in the wrong, there. Yeah, Mariano Rivera is the last MLB player who can wear #42, the second-to-last (who I only included since he's been somewhat on the news as of late as a part of the Mitchell Report, but moreso because he was my childhood hero) was the Hit "Glove" Dog, Mo Vaughn.

Not quite of the proper procedure here, but I think that seeing as 538 got a right answer before djt, he should get it, although I'm willing to be overruled.

Technically, he may have gotten it right, but a)538 gave a technically correct answer first and b)if you interpret my question to refer to the "most recent" player (as I think it would) Rivera is better.

Well I got djt's, so I'm throwing it back to 538.

Werd. Sorry, should have probably specified that I was looking for baseball, but I didn't think Gretzky's number was retired league-wide so I figured I'd be cool and leave it open.

So, I guess the question in mine? Here goes:

Name the players who claim the top 5 spots on the all-time homeruns list for Major League Baseball and the amount of homeruns each player has.

B*o*n*d*s* - *770*?
Aaron - 755
Ruth - 714
Mays - 660
Griffey - 603

Not my best work, unsure of Bond's total and whether Griffey is close to being fifth.

Actually I think Sosa is 5th with I'll say 605?

With Sosa, the order is correct, but Bonds' and Sosa's totals are off.

Bonds is in the 760's somewhere, say 763, and Sosa's at about 615.
