What do you think of the higher players putting the lower players on thier ignore list because of low score... here is a set of PM's (with out names) to a person who put me on thier ignore list b.c of my low rank

just because no games have been played together it doesnt mean that they didnt do something silly in a different game. for all the low ranks ( me included now), you should conduct and play the best you can because you never know whos watching. if you suicide or randomly attack another player-- someone could see it and be afraid you may do it again with them.
another reason is neg feedback and deadbeating games..............if theres a pattern there i will put them on my list.

Err the option is setting private gamesfriendjonny wrote:I wonder, what would be an honorable way to make sure low ranked players don't join certain games?...
it sure would be nice if there was an option when you create games to only allow players to join who have a score within a specified range ????-????

I know I have made a lot of ignore lists simply for having a low rank. What I just do is put that person on my ignore list, so that they won't be able to play a game with me when my rating increases. With the addition of 8 player games, they really won't want to be on my ignore list because even if I've got a super-low rating, there's only a 1/8 chance I'd win an 8 player game.
I'd suggest anyone who gets ignored put the ignorer on their ignore list to see how they like it.

That is incredibly stupid. What's the point? If they put you on their ignore list they don't want ot play with you. Putting them on your ignore list is only helping them.

To be honest when there are other options open to them, i do think putting someone on ignore purely based on their score is very lame. As someone who has had a consistently low score since I joined this site and probably always will i am probably on multiple ignore lists of high rankers - even though I never deadbeat, I have a feedback record 0f 66-0 and to the best of my knowledge I have never DELIBERATELY done something stupid in a game. It would be good to be able to see what ignore lists I'm on as only one high ranker has ever admitted putting me on ignore because of my low score and we all know what happened him (Krusher), the wider implications of honest players on ignore lists have been discussed before in the context of br, tournies etc.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

if a low ranker is on a high ranker's ignore list it is usually for one of the following reasons:
1. deadbeat/ turn-skipper
2. suicider
3. can't play and makes horrible mistakes that unbalance the game.
i have all 3 types on my ignore list. and i don't care if people say i'm wrong i still want to enjoy my games and there's nothing worse than a guy who slams his 40 troops against your 40 troops just to break your +2 bonus in an escalating game when the trade ins are at the 30-50 value. that's idiotic and deserves ignore. same goes for a guy that plays with his heart not his brain and goes suiciding on you just because you broke his south america bonus.
but getting on an ignore list can come from various other reasons like trash talking, alliances, disclosing locations in fog of war.
i can't say putting somebody on ignore solely based on score is right or wrong. it depends on the situation.
for example i start 100 1v1 public games and a cook starts joining all of them. i'd have to win 95% of those games to break even and that's impossible. so i'd put him on ignore. is that wrong? i don't know. but i'd do it. but only if i had to win such an insanly large amount of games. if we're talking about something like 70% then i'll take the risk and play.

I'll put someone on ignore if they give me a good reason, but otherwise I don't think it's fair to shut someone out simply because they are new. How are new people going to learn if they don't have the opportunity to see what more experience players do in a live game?
Perhaps my view is a bit different since points don't matter that much to me. I know that others play for points, which is not a bad thing. But for me, it's the joy of playing that I'm here for, not the point standings.

all very reasonable although i the instance of the cook it might be nice to ask him first and if that fails then put him oin ignore - anyway DiM anyone that looks thrugh your games you have played players of all ranks and skill levels including me so you dont seem to use your ignore to block us low rankers in general from joining games with you - you only put people on ignore where you have a good reason to - not just because of their score which is what this thread's author complained about - a sentiment i share.DiM wrote:if a low ranker is on a high ranker's ignore list it is usually for one of the following reasons:
