Yes, the destructive Ettin is my favorite monster. This is it...
My neighbor converted me when I was ten, he was eleven, and since then we have made all of are friends into nerds. I was very suprised by how easy it was.I would play, but there is a distinct lack of that particular brand of nerd in my area. Also, no fragging idea.
The game is not for everyone, but you might have just been playing with the wrong people. The people you play with make or break the game. And I played it once, it was wierd not my game.

I used to...everybody is old now, hehe.Ettin wrote:Just wondering, does any one here play Dungeons and Dragons? I do. I'll give you three guesses to what's my favorite monster.
The Lich?
That's the one I would pick...the ultimate and most powerful of the undead.
The Lich King rocks!

Word up to the max. I would happily say that about most geeky card/board games people here cared to mention though. That said, there's probably plenty of that type of nerd in my area somewhere, but I've never had the good fortune to meet them.Frigidus wrote:I would play, but there is a distinct lack of that particular brand of nerd in my area.
Shame you already guessed 'Ettin'... I would have guessed Owlbear, those things are hilarious in their absurdity.

I played many, many years ago. I've actually got all the first edition books in my attic (still in good condition) and a mint condition copy of the Deities and Demigods edition that got TSR sued (supposedly no more than one thousand copies went out). Not that anyone actually collects that kind of stuff though.
Liches, Oh man I hated those things! Death Knights too.
By far my favorite monster was the dragon though. Sentimental favorite that too many DM's make too easy to kill.

I think it was the Newhon and Melnibone'an Mythos. They were supposed to have published them without the proper permission. It may be B.S. though I never looked into it. All the other guys copies of that book didn't have those two in it though. (It might have been Lovecraft intead of either of these, it's been a while)mybike_yourface wrote:which one got them sued? what was the content? i used to have one with stuff that later got changed.CrazyAnglican wrote:I played many, many years ago. This picture brings back memories. It was the picture on the Basic D&D boxed set that my brother bought me years ago! This really got my over active imagination going.
There were no Good or Evil in the game. You were either Lawful, Neutral, or Chaotic.
The boxed set adventure for beginners had you battling WereRats!

I didn't know TSR got sued over Deities & Demigods.CrazyAnglican wrote:I played many, many years ago. Was it some sort of copyright issue?
I still have mine up in the attic with all my other D&D stuff (its a lot).
After seeing this thread I'll probably go up and break it all out.
