By the way, what's with all of the hatred for people who use Limewire? Are you another lead tambourine player in some shit band that thinks you'd already be rolling in the record deals if it wasn't for the internet eroding the profitability of the record industry? I never understand this ridiculous belief that not protecting intellectual property in what would be an irresponsible way is somehow destroying art. It would be the equivalent of saying that the copy machine has caused the collapse of publishing as we know it. Didn't happen.misterman10 wrote:If I haven't made it clear already, I hate people who use limewire.

Nah mate, its the fact that while some people are getting their music for free, I'm spending it on iTunes. There's already been a discussion on limewire, which holds my thoughts, so dig it up if you wish.jcalebmoore wrote:By the way, what's with all of the hatred for people who use Limewire? Now that you were perfectly polite with your response I feel like a jerk. Sorry if I was unnecessarily bitter with my thoughts on this, but I don't like when people try to force their opinions about what is appropriate onto others who might disagree. I understand that you wish you didn't have to pay, but you don't. If you choose to pay for iTunes because you think you're taking the moral high road, I guess that's the price you pay for feeling like a good guy.misterman10 wrote:Nah mate, its the fact that while some people are getting their music for free, I'm spending it on iTunes. Don't worry about it. No, I mostly just don't use limewire due to the fear of being caught. I realize that virtually nobody actually gets caught and punished by law, but I don't want to take that risk. Feeling like a good guy? Maybe. But a lot of my music is taken from friends or stolen from their iTunes library.jcalebmoore wrote:Now that you were perfectly polite with your response I feel like a jerk. I guess living on the edge is cheap then...
I genuinely believe that saying you own the rights to music is as ludicrous as saying you own the rights to certain sentences, so I'm not going to change my actions simply because of fear of litigation. I'll keep downloading however I see fit, just as much as I'll keep firing people by telling them "you're fired" and lawsuits and Donald Trump be damned. That said, download however you see fit. I aint mad at cha.

Me too. I consider software to be much more akin to a physical good or product than the other things discussed.bedub1 wrote:I fully support downloading for free to figure out if you want to buy or not, or if you are using the application for training/educational purposes. But when a business steals software, and then uses the software to make money, I have issues with that.

I already tried turning off firewall and that didnt workjcalebmoore wrote:Every time I've had Limewire issues, uninstalling the program and re-downloading it has been the fix. It might be worth a try. Also if you right click on the globe in the bottom left of Limewire, I believe it will give you info on your firewall.
and i already unistalled and re-installed it.

Done before. I uninstalled it about 15 minutes later. Funny thing is, I use AresTube and Freeze.reverend_kyle wrote:I'll fix your problem. Torrents suck for downloading music compared to soulseek, but for downloading videos and software they're where it's at.jcalebmoore wrote:reverend_kyle wrote:Dowload Soulseek, that is pure not evil with no viruses.
Even lack uses it.
Or take the time, and learn to use torrents. If you have the aptitude, I think they're the answer.
Also demonoid got shut down last I heard which brings the torrent factor way down.

Check the settings of your router and set it to forward the port limewire is using. Most routers have a built-in firewall nowadays. And don't switch off the firewall on your pc, set limewire as an exception instead, it really isn't hard to dosoundout9 wrote:I already tried turning off firewall and that didnt workjcalebmoore wrote:Every time I've had Limewire issues, uninstalling the program and re-downloading it has been the fix.
