Honibaz
I was going to say to let some girl get pregnant and let her go around and tell people how bad and uncool it was.

Giving girls the pill isn't giving permission for them to have sex.
Obviously the school has done some research, and if their results found that 6th to 8th grade girls are having sex, well atleast they're trying to stop them getting pregnant, because then it really is fucked up. (also, agreed, 11 year olds having sex is fucked up as it is, but atleast this way pregnancy can be removed from the equation)
I'm only 23, so i was 6th grade 12 years ago, and there was no way that i was even getting close to even contemplating having sex (we did have sex education in that year though, which i think is fine) - is it just me or are kids doing shit way earlier these days?
I think two things are contributing (amongst others)
Media advertising and manipulation:- selling sex with EVERYTHING and sluts like paris/britney etc who send a pretty demeaning message to young girls "sleep with people to get ahead/noticed"
Also eating hormone fed chicken. f*ck, I was over a mates house the other week and his younger sister was there. I thought from first looks that she was a very quickly developed 15 or 16 year old (but still had a young looking face) - SHE WAS ONLY 11!!!
but eh.. kids are growing up way quicker in all respects. Mobile phones for 13 year olds? Why??

13? I've seen 8 year olds with them! Not to mention I've seen little kids wear what I would expect sluts to wear.radiojake wrote:Giving girls the pill isn't giving permission for them to have sex.

what do children eat? they eat lots of cereal.
Cows are pumped up with steriods to get bigger and estrogen to produce more milk and anti-biotics. I read that 50 years ago a cow gave out about X amount of milk a week and now its 1,000 times more and the weight of cows has tripled.
so... girls and boys are getting pumped full of harmones that change their bodies and brain function, and I agree, Ive scene very young women who look early 20s.

What would you prefer, they give out birth control in cases where it may be needed, as discreetly as possible
or
6th to 8th graders keep getting pregnant and as some are, leading to all the complications that arise from it.
Its the schools trying to take responsibility for an issue that is increasingly getting out of hand.
You don't tell your kids, its wrong to shoot people when you get mad at them, then hand them a loaded gun...."just in case".

I see your point, Jay, but it's not quite the same
They're not giving out the pill so girls can now go and have sex, they're giving it out because they already are
Atleast make sure they don't get fucking pregnant
And in the meantime society can maybe stop being so misogynist and then maybe girls wont feel like they're only worth is through sex - and don't try telling me this isn't the case. Just look at any billboard in the next couple of days, there will be atleast a couple with women in their underwear

You'd rather them be pregnant?jay_a2j wrote:The day any of my daughters come home with birth control they got from school.... all hell is gonna break loose.
As long as you teach them to have self-respect you shouldn't have to worry anyway

i am a mental giant enough to be able to see that theres no need for an analogy here, and me being the crazy big gov wacko i am, when i see the parental social unit is not getting out info. and regrettably birth control when it needs to be done, i want some other social institution to protect those people.
Shortsightedness and rigid views only cause more people to fall through the cracks like this.

I don't see any problems with birth control beeing handed out to those who actually are involved in sexual relations that young.
The main problem is those getting pregnants, so the main problem is beeing taken cared of.
If they are actually responsible..Well, even if they should wait...At least they are doing it safely that way.
It's a step in the right direction.

I live here in the US...but sooo many of these people are fucked up in the head that I just want to get out.
Where should I move to? Should these children be on birth control? Should the school be forced to tell the parents about it?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
Where the f*ck did you hear your story?
The only fucking kids that use the schools program have their god damn parents permission. This became big when the parents who didn't know about it found out about it. There kids where not allowed to use the program.

Has anyone actually read the news about this?
"As it stands, children need parental permission to be treated at the clinic at King Middle School. Once at the clinic, however, state law allows the students to receive confidential care for reproductive health, mental health and substance abuse issues."
LINK
In other words, medically speaking this is no different that the parents taking a girl to a private Doctor or Therapist. They aren't just handing them out in the hallways and saying "Go have sex kids!"
The greater question is why is a tax payer funded middle school is dispensing ANY medication regardless of what it is. Moral implications aside, I shouldn't have to pay for someones else kids medications...antibiotics, cough medicine OR contraceptives.
