Yeh. Was a good game actually. The Japs surprised me really. Never seen them play before. For a bunch of little guys they put up a good fight!

I'm sad to say you are probably right.

I have just one question. Why, with all the outstanding players in the NZ team, do they resort to dirty and underhand tactics. I expect it of the French, its the way they are, but theres no need for the Kiwis to do it.

Yeh that's what I'm going for as well, or ever so possibly NZ - SA (although the group allocations make that unlikely I suppose).

I think the way the groups are if Aus, SA, NZ & France(?) top there groups & win there quarter final, it'll be a NZ / Aus & SA / France semi-finals.

Nz will then destroy Aus (purely because aus just really suck

) and SA will destroy France (purely because SA are just so brilliant

) and then it means SA get to beat NZ in the final again....I just hope there won't be any excuses this time round (is it's an Australasia thing where you can't except defeat graciously?)

The Italy / Romania game was scrappy as hell, romania could have actually beaten them.

surely the wagons arent circled that closely round the laager - no-one except you guys seriously believe that nothing happended in 95! I expect that Suzie the Tealady is checking out match times on the lovely gold watch Louis gave her when he bought one for the ref.

I have to agree that SA is a large threat to NZ but really dont think that a large forward pack will be enough to win the cup. Ole Jake is convinced that defense will win the cup and this must be based on the fact that (Habana excepted) SA has a largely ineffectual backline (did I see someone in the thread pumping up Percy! lol). Should NZ/SA final come to pass, it will be an interesting contest between 2 coaching philosophies - negative defence based vs positive attack based.

I am looking forward to SA/England this weekend - go hard and beat the shit out of each other!!

They haven't needed to show their full potential yet. Did you see our "ineffectual" backline against Samoa? And scotland in the warm-up game? 3 backline moves, 3 tries & then we practice defending for the rest of the game...

If you think SA doesn't have a good backline besides Habana, then you are seriously mistaken...We can see after tonights game, when SA rip England to pieces. They better hope Johnny is playing, otherwise they have no chance.

NZ couldn't even break 100 points against italy & italy scored 2 tries...even Romania let in less tries

one thing i will say before the start of the england v sa game. england are so bad at the moment that there is only one way to go. and that is up.

and we didnt win it by accident last time. unlike a certain team a few years ago.
