*Bunny 🐰 grabs a monocle off the shelf and looks towards the drinking action.. *
Now that looks entertaining
*she states with a bit of emphasis before she puts the monocle back in it’s respective space*

Gimmie a gimlet, also would anyone care for a bit of laudanum before we begin, I do think I have a little left in my bag over here. Quite the place you have here, quite the place. And the smells from the kitchen are already quite intoxicating.

Laudanum! Why I haven't partaken in tincture of opium since one particularly ill-fated sailing jaunt of my girlhood. I shall hope this evening results in less loss of life.

My, oh my! Well, give it here, child.

Somebody spotted the Menu on the table:

Loose Canon mumbled “Mulligatawny? That’s not a full English. Where’s the black pudding? The bacon? The fried bread?”

Kongming3 studied the card a moment longer than the others.
“Very nice. But which course is the one where we lynch someone? Because if it’s after the Lafite, I’m voting for whoever’s still sober.”

Ragian, still nowhere near the table, called from somewhere down the drive.
“Don’t you all get drunk before I arrive. And someone spell ‘Mulligatawny’ correctly or I shall leave.”

I have an idea our chef might have some Indian blood. Maybe a good idea to cool the toilet paper down in a fridge somewhere.

Mulligatawny Origin and Name
• Name meaning: The name comes from the Tamil words miḷagu (black pepper) and thanneer (water), literally translating to "pepper-water".
• History: During the British colonial era in India, British officers expected a multi-course meal that included a soup course—a concept not traditional in Indian dining. Local cooks adapted thin, spicy South Indian rasam or lentil-based daal into a heavier, meat-inclusive dish tailored to European tastes.

Key Characteristics & Ingredients
• Base: Typically made with a well-seasoned chicken, mutton, or vegetable stock, often thickened with red lentils or rice.
• Flavor profile: Combines warming Indian spices (such as curry powder, cumin, turmeric, and black pepper) with sweet elements like diced apples, carrots, or a touch of mango chutney.
• Finish: Often enriched with coconut milk, cream, or yogurt, and garnished with fresh cilantro.

Meanwhile, over on the couch, Devante now lay snoring and sprawled across Annie and Bunny with neither able to easily extricate themselves.

Annie was attempting to maintain an impervious ladylike poise, despite Devantes posterior being uncomfortably close to her nostrils.

Bunny however was stroking Devantes hair which at first glance might look much as a child would stroke their pet rabbit.
But was there not something of a feline glint in Bunny's eye as she did so - or was that just the dim light playing tricks on Loose's eyes?

While I am certainly flattered by the attention of such a strapping young lad, the truth of it is, stronger men have tried, much more gracefully mind you, and stronger men have failed. Besides, a fifth husband? What would people say!

Unvote Charle, -1 votes for Charle for being so dutifully courteous and sparing me the dastardly consequences of such a preparation. There's picant and then there's perfidy. I fear the chef may have pernicious intent.

*Bunny 🐰 switches from looking through Devs hair for the cherry from the joint to actively swatting it as it seems, smoke has begun to billow just a little bit*
Boy, this laudanum sure makes you forget your hit; sorry I uhh ashed in your hair a little and um maybe started a small hair fire 🔥… let me see

*having removed the joint ash Bunny looks at the top of Devs head to see a smallish bald spot, she lowers her lower lip and makes kind of an eeee expression, then moves Devs part the otherway looks at him and smiles*
Yeeah ahh um yeah no worries looks good…
*She lights the joint again and feeling relaxed a bit from everything takes a look at the menu and Charle’s notes.

Ouu how fancy, I love ❤️ spice cant wait to try it hopefully we all make it to dessert.. (she says forebodingly)

The soup is, as Charle already pointed out, usually made with well-seasoned chicken. Or mutton.

Don’t be the mutton..

We’re officially under 48 hours before the first course is served.

Have fun.

PS: It can’t hurt to think about the dinner plan. Someone’s still getting lynched, and it might as well not be you.

Don't miss out on that Lafitte

I may be accused of many things, however breaking the matrimonial vows is certainly not one. I find myself feeling loquacious, so if you care to listen, I shall regale you.

The first of my husbands was a match insisted upon by my mother. She was certain of Barnaby's fine heritage and noble bloodline. However the very night of our marriage, in our nuptial bed, sweet Barnaby began to quake and collapsed. In the morning the physician told me my groom, in fact, had no heart or veins at all. Rather, in him was a sort of open circulatory system like that of a bee or ant. Later no fewer than three of his cousins passed the same way. Fine bloodline indeed! Mercifully, I kept the silks and silver.

For my next husband I insisted upon a hale and hearty man. Perceval was indeed both. Headstrong as well, he threw himself headlong into war. Perceval did not return and, as fate would have it, my third husband would be the very soldier that arrived to tell me dear Percy'd stepped on an enemy ordinance and, as he put it, been blown to bits.

Thinking I could insulate myself from the horrors of war by marrying a retiring soldier, I took this bearer of bad news as my third husband. Alistair's last day was fine day, an ideal day for the polo match he would have won if not for an unfavorable ruling from a judge. Truculent Alistair had left the war but the war had not left the man, and both he and the judge lay dead before the blankets were off the horses.

It was the horses that brought his brother calling. Giles insisted the horses stay in his family. Forever the pragmatist, I took the man as my husband, keeping both the name and the horses.

I might still be married to Giles if not for the deplorable quality of the company he kept. Many times I told him the only man more foolish than Viceroy Richard Cheney was the man who went hunting with Viceroy Cheney. A hideous bafoon who needed better muzzle management in more ways than one. Giles returned with half his face and succumbed to sepsis within a fortnight.

I did not leave my chaise for many a month. When my strength returned, I was committed to choosing a peaceful man. I found in Hedley the benevolent man I sought. He was a poetic sort and yearned endlessly for the sea. Naturally, he knew my history with maritime tragedy and, in our twoscore years of matrimony, every time he left sailing I begged him not to go. When I heard he was drowned I was inconsolable. I know now relegating him to a terrestrial existence would only have meant condemning him to a slower and more painful kind of death. Alas, it is in the hands of God and poorly tied knots.

And so my last of six loved husbands went. Whether my fortunes include another marriage or not, I do not know. My only certainty is that I shall never again be a man's second love.

Hottbunnie, counting on her fingers, "wait, six?"

Sweet girl, what happens in Paris stays in Paris.

Devante, rousing for a moment, "yeah but you said 5th, that implies four."

Homer, "...not just implies, means precisely four."

Dear heavens and God have mercy! I find myself in most impudent company!

Hjelp, scribbling in a notebook "initially each previous husband would be allotted 25%. The additional of Devante would reduce each portion to 20% or H-20. With two additional husbands...the H value would further reduce. Then, adjusting for potential marriages, or PH..."

The absolute impertinence! The incivility! You, Sir, are altogether too familiar, and your application of statistics, asinine! My marriage to Barnaby spanned a single sunset, while Hedley and I shared thirty years. Tell me again of your 20%!

Kong, "thirty years is not twoscore years."

Heavens! The absolute limits of impropriety! Never in all my days!

*Stands in a huff, snatching the joint from Bunnie*

Loose canon, frowning, "fresh air anyone?" *opens a window in an impotent attempt at smoothing things over*

*Bunny pulls a back-up joint from behind her ear, "yeah you heard it guys, be more, uh, pertinent" *sparks it* "civility!" *inhales* "what she said!" *giggles*

standing off by the bar, watching the odd scene in front of me. i'm wearing a top hat, monocle and fake mustache, hoping to fit in and look as dignified as every.. err, most of the others appear to be. i'm sure none have really noticed me. and i'm certain none have noticed the bottles of ale i snuck in. i knew a fancy schmancy dinner like this would have things like wine and laughing something or other. i finish the tankard that i carried in with me, despite the glares of the steward at the door, and discreetly refill it from a bottle in my overcoat.

ahh, beer... the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems..

Well Devante, you have your 2 future wives pretty well lined up although perhaps you should give Bunny the chance to clear her head first before you present your ring.

The order is important though and out of Annie and Bunny I think I know who I'd choose first.

Speaking of order are there any past wives in your history or maybe a present one you'd need out of the way first?

Perhaps a Civilitas high school sweetheart - maybe a Cheerleader even?

Speaking of Civilitas I think I heard the voice of that old fart Ragian - I wonder if he's changed much?
(tried to insert picture of Principal Ragian but without using AI failed)

The game is in full pre-dinner chaos:

BLACKPOOL MANOR GAZETTE — SPECIAL PRE-DINNER EDITION

ANNIEH REVEALS SIX-HUSBAND BODY COUNT!
“The absolute impertinence!”

DEVANTE’S FUTURE WIVES SET HIS HAIR ON FIRE — HE RETREATS TO THE DRINK CART
BUNNY DECLARES DEVANTE’S NEW BALD SPOT “LOOKS GOOD” — CONTINUES SMOKING
Laudanum blamed. Joint relit. Party continues.

HOMER_JAY SPOTTED IN DISGUISE AT BAR - HIS FAKE MOUSTACHE SLIPS INTO HIS ALE!
Top hat, monocle, fake moustache. Smuggled ale. Pretends no one notices.

LOOSE CANON DEMANDS FULL ENGLISH — FIRST COURSE OFFERS ONLY MUTTON SOUP HE SAYS
DEMANDS "TOAD IN THE HOLE" INSTEAD!
(Sausages baked in Yorkshire pudding batter. Looks wrong. Tastes right he says)

KINGM ARRIVES LATE, TAKES ONE LOOK AT THE CHAOS, AND SIMPLY SAYS “I BET THIS WILL BE CRAZY”

For those who have not confirmed by 17 October, 7 o’clock England time…

There is Dutch saying: "“In de soep draaien” (literal translation:“To turn into the soup” or “To spin/twist into the soup”
(meaning to mess something up completely)

You will not be a guest.

You will not be seated.

You will not even be the mutton.

You will be the Mulligatawny soup.

A soup that could turn the invite cards around..

A soup that Charle has already prepared the toilet paper for.
:D

Actually if it was Breakfast and with an chef with some Indian blood I'd quite like Kedgeree.
Failing that lets stink and smoke this house out with Kippers.
(Kippers are smoked herrings but not red herrings)
Can the culinary advisor - please back me up on this at least?
