Signs agreement about Greenland:
Understanding Trump's Deal With Denmark—and What It Means for Greenland's Sovereignty

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a deal on the security of the semi-autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, in a bid to end the standoff over the strategic island. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen joined Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in New York for the trilateral signing ceremony.

The deal follows Trump’s repeated threats to annex Greenland—a move he insisted was a matter of “national security,” on account of the mineral-rich Arctic territory’s positioning between the U.S., Russia, and Europe. Trump has long argued that Denmark cannot be relied upon to protect the island. Tensions reached a critical point earlier this year, when he threatened to tariff European allies until Greenland fell under U.S. control, and suggested he may pull the U.S. out of NATO over the tussle.

The signed agreement notably stops short of Trump's call for the U.S. to take over Greenland as a U.S. territory.

Instead, in a speech at the U.N. gathering, Trump said the deal gives the U.S. "permanent control over security and all other needs on that territory" and emphasized that "no U.S. adversary will ever be permitted to establish a military presence in Greenland any more, or make sensitive investments there without our express written approval."

Trump added that the new text “greatly protects” Europe and “very much enhances NATO."
and is a CHANGE (same Source):
The agreement, according to a State Department official, establishes “permanent” guarantees that “only the U.S. and our allies can make sensitive investments in Greenland, eliminating the previous status quo in which adversaries have been investing in Greenland's sensitive sectors without investment screening.”

The deal's permanence marks a shift from what was in place before, experts tell TIME.

Same old treaty as 1951. This treaty can be canceled, if Greenland becomes independent.

The 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement is a bilateral treaty signed by the United States and Denmark on April 27, 1951, pursuant to the North Atlantic Treaty, which established the framework for U.S. military operations and base construction in the Arctic territory during and after the Cold War.Key Aspects of the 1951 TreatyFounding Context: Signed two years after the U.S. and Denmark joined NATO, responding to the strategic need to defend the North Atlantic against potential Soviet threats.Military Access: Granted the U.S. authority to establish and operate designated "defense areas" and military bases (such as the Thule Air Base, now Pituffik Space Base) deemed necessary for regional defense.

Our country should be ashamed of the threats that our Felon President made to our ally Denmark.

This president is awesome! Green light for Greenland!

The 2026 agreement does not replace the 1951 treaty. It specifically says it amends and supplements the old arrangement. The important additions are:
- More bases: Pituffik can be expanded, and Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig become additional U.S. defense areas. More defense areas can also be proposed later. The White House
- Much clearer access rights: U.S. military aircraft can fly over and land throughout Greenland, while U.S. forces can move between defense areas by land, air, and sea. U.S. public vessels also get specified access through Greenland's territorial waters. The White House
- Golden Dome: the agreement expressly contemplates installations needed for the U.S. Golden Dome missile-defense system. The White House
- Unmanned installations: Denmark and Greenland agree to use accelerated procedures for U.S. requests for unmanned military installations outside existing defense areas. The White House
- Russia/China-type restrictions: non-NATO countries cannot establish persistent military installations or forces unless all parties agree. The agreement also restricts sensitive foreign investment from certain non-NATO/non-EU states, including in critical infrastructure and resource extraction. The White House
- No expiration: the agreement explicitly says it has no end date and can be amended only by mutual consent. The White House
- Even Greenlandic independence doesn't automatically end it: the agreement says that if Greenland becomes independent, Denmark and Greenland are to ensure that the new independent Greenland assumes the defense agreement's rights and obligations and remains in NATO/apply for membership if necessary. That's a major new provision. The White House
- Greenland gets protections/benefits: the text emphasizes Greenlandic self-determination, local economic benefits, environmental protections, and using Greenlandic companies for U.S. defense-related contracts to the maximum extent feasible

What does President Trump do NOW?
MEDINAH, Ill. — President Donald Trump spoke briefly on Sunday at the Presidents Cup, his second appearance at a major sporting event in as many days after attending the Tennessee-Texas college football game on Saturday.

He stayed from the opening tee shot to the end, participating in the trophy ceremony after the United States completed a comeback, winning a record 9 1/2 points in 12 singles matches to beat the International Team, 17-13.

The Presidents Cup remains with Team USA.

Team USA rallied on Sunday in the singles to overcome a 10.5 to 7.5 deficit. USA ended up winning the event 17 to 13 in a lopsided result.

Makes a change for the US to win a golf cup, having lost the Walker, Ryder and Solheim versions.
If they'd have lost this one, there might have been clamour for them to be relegated and for the next version to be Europe v the Internationals

Even republican stalwarts are starting to admit the party has been taken over by racists, Nazis and white nationalists...

https://www.sacurrent.com/news/politics ... -by-nazis/
“My party is being infiltrated by people like Bo French,” Rove said. “Nick Fuentes goes to Dallas and meets with a bunch of Republican leaders. This guy is a Nazi. We’ve got all these people getting on their little podcasts and so forth, saying: ‘We’re just asking questions about the Jews.’”

“We didn’t labor in the wilderness to build a conservative party that was inclusive and welcoming … to see it taken over by a bunch of bigots,” Rove said.
Pretty sure Condoleezza and Rove are of the same ilk Hitred, they hate Trump and everything he stands for. Shocking you'd want people like that in office given all your prophecies from God on the holiness of Trump

50 states v 50 nations - seems fair.
We so rarely got a look in when it was GB & Ireland, they had to add in Europe to make it fairer. To be honest it didn't become a contest until Seve Ballesteros came along - that opened the door for Lyle, Faldo, Langer and Woosnam to start winning tournaments in the US.
It did have one of the great sporting moments though - when Jack Nicklaus conceded a very missable Tony Jacklin putt for a draw, rather than make him putt it and risk losing.

I have been to many MLB games at the stadium. I really do not enjoy the game that much. It is TOO SLOW and TOO Boring. That is why I do not like it. I went to the games to be with those whose company I enjoy, mostly my brothers. I have been to more baseball games (Live, at the stadium or sports venue) than NBA, NHL, and NFL games COMBINED.

When I was young, Baseball was THE GAME. I enjoyed College Football much more then and NOW. I now watch NFL, NBA, and NHL about the same on TV. Those games are much more exciting to watch. I cannot recall when I last watched an entire MLB game on TV. And btw, I rarely watch golf, either, and have never paid to attend ANY golf event.

I suppose that if I lived nearer to such venues that I may attend more; I doubt it. Richmond has a good AA baseball team, but I have not been to any of their games in their new stadium. I have no compelling reason to go.

I have been to many College Football games, including Bowl games and going to other venues, mostly to watch my Alma Mater, Virginia Tech. My Family enjoyed tail-gating at VT games, but have not done much since the birth of our Grandchildren. I hope we do so soon. I do not recall ever going to a VT sporting event other than football since I graduated from there. I rarely watched live sports other than football or mens basketball while a student.

I enjoy high school football and basketball (Boys and Girls) locally. I also support my school's Girl's Volleyball and attend their games. Those are ALL FUN.

To me, the bottom line is what I enjoy and where and how to spend my money and time. Baseball is certainly NOT High on that list.

No reason why you should watch or enjoy something just because you think you ought to.
A while back some journalist opined that we *should* watch the women's national football team...patriotic duty, national sport etc. He got a lot of vitriol for that. Some simply commented that they watch women's sport just for "T & A", which is rather demeaning, but it's their choice.
I think it helps to watch if you understand a sport, and preferably have played it. I prefer women's golf because I can relate to the distances they hit with a particular club, which is much closer to what I can achieve than the men's game - I watch that for the competitive nature.
I watch international rugby union, but I find rugby league tedious, so I don't watch it.
I like watching badminton, on the rare occasions that it's on, but that's partly because I've played it to a good enough level to understand what's going on tactically and technically.

To return to the subject...I used to play golf with a bloke whose approach to keeping score seems to have been similar to Trump's. I guess if the president says he took 4, then no-one's going to argue.
