So, already one infected means- two Things on the move. Then if I was OGT then I would have chosen to recruit among the players that have played the old game. The reason is that it's possible that at least one of them has FT and all of them know the game play. They would have been good candiates to recruit.

Then I'm wondering - how likely is it that DDS chosed one of the "old players" being OGT at D0 ? since they know the game play.

And according to SoN!c it was Traf and Charle and SoN!c tha are "old players". Traf is suspicious since few posts.

Although the evidence from recent games would be exactly that traf would make few posts and therefore fall under suspicion for exactly that reason??

DDS does not like ultra low posters, lurkers. For that reason alone, if DDS did choose the OGT, he would never have chosen Traf.

Well, if that's the case, I can change regarding BT if we agree on one player among these three. Charle or SoN!c. But for the moment it's Traf

And with Trafs record of just not being there why again would you recruit Traf? Ofcourse it could appeal to some to recruit Traf. Good analytical mind. But mostly he is just stating the obvious.

Traf stays silent because he knows talking gets him into trouble. And being ultra silent ("no electricity for 3 days") is a sign he really wants to stay very silent here.

That would be the argument for me. Not because DDS has "chosen" an old player as OGT. DDS is very strickt on set-ups. OGT by random is my idea. But you can ask DDS.

If your argument is that DDS will say "random" but did choose in reality then he would most likely have chosen Charle. (Im not DDS favorite and i don't see him chosing Traf with the awol issue at hand).

But yes. I can agree on BT one of those 3 instead of BT you.

Ive not played this game or a game with this setup before but i do have pregame knowledge of it, so I will declare what that is at this point.

Last Thing game ended Dec 2023.
I've played in every game since.

For the purposes of researching how players played these games i read the Thing Game at some point in 2024.
I was "how the hell did town work that out to win?"

Since starting this game i have read the last 2 pages of the Dec23 game and the very start to check who played.

As the particular fun of this game is;
1. The flavour DDS has devised for it.
2. The joy of discovering something new.

I chose not to declare until now

And actually sonic has described this game as mind chess.

I would describe it as kriegspiel chess - an actual obscure but fun variant i have played once in my life some 45 years ago.

Im going to set up a discussion in the forum because i think i could run a team v team game of kriegspiel chess.

The Checkmate opening scene in the 1982 movie is brilliant : The computer traps MacReady in a "Checkmate"—a no-win situation.

So how does MacReady respond to a losing game? When he's about to lose, he doesn't try to outsmart the machine. He simply destroys it. He pours liquid (whiskey) into the machine to short-circuit it ("fried it")..

Later on MacReady finds himself trapped in another impossible game—one with no clear rules, no certainty, and no way to know who can be trusted. Just like the chess match, he's facing an opponent he can't fully understand.

So "how the hell did town work that out to win?" is exactly the mindset we need in this game.

I didnt realise that was the significance of the chess game opening in the film.
Thanks for highlighting it.

In this game methinks if town can get the opening bt right it will be a very different game to previous

Re: The Thing! Day 1

Hjelp has a good argument that town should BT one of the 3 players who played The Thing game before. So since we need to find general agreement why don't we agree we test one of Charle, Traf and me?

CHARLE:

In the first Thing game Charle held the flamethrower, torched the backup vig first then a recruit, but got infected the same night and lost the FT.. Then he lied rather funny about that fact :D

I believe any OGT who remembered (or looked the original Thing game up) would not Night-0 recruit Charle (too slip-prone in his last game "im the history teacher in a class full of students" ). That makes Charle a bad recruit and a better randomized OGT.
So chances are big Charles is either the OGT but never the N0 recruit i say.

The "Main Charle line" in this game is “stop theorizing, lock a random BT in, just quickly & move on.” Where is the plan?

Sounds like an OGT who does not want to give town time to come up with a good plan.

Then he had a fair share of "sow doubt posts" / "keep town in the dark" with his (alledged) memory gaps:

“I can't remember to be honest?” Really?
“Do we lynch everyday and kill someone every night?” Really?
“Does [a blood test] really make you a target for the Thing tonight?”

Also: Charles seems happy that me and Loose eat the thread. That is a red flag unlike Devante / Homer — complaining about flood is normal town irritation, not leadership signs of a cult..

TRAF:

Day 1 is 161 posts. Traf has basically just two:

First post: 21 Sep,: “So i can't remember the math in this setting, we need to torch someone fast or no. how does it work with 10”

That’s the same flavor as Charle: I don’t remember anything about the mechanics of this game??

Second post: 26 Sep, and ofc very convenient right after the host was about to replace him: the famous line "power/internet out for 3 days, old building, sorry" while taking game turns in those same 3 days

He never followed up with a plan (lynch positives / don’t / BT who). Nothing. He kept utter silence. Either way, town lost days of possible pressure on him. Just the way he likes it. Because you can't read silence..and he knows that.

So both make a good case on why they could test positive, and thus we don't waste a BT by choosing one of them.
I'd say we BT Charle and if he tests hot on Day 1, we lynch him the same day and we don’t get cute with the flamethrower. If negative we start debating who to lynch.
I also invite Charle to come up with good reasons if he doesn't like to be tested himself and wants me or Traf to take the BT instead..
Same goes for Traf ofc.

At this point I hope there's a flamethrower with Traf's name on it.

The non-participation is anti science team whether he is or not.

FT over blood test because BT on an active player gives them a chance to live, and extra chances are for suspicious people who are at least trying.

Blood test I don't know. On the verge of drawing a bracket to narrow it down.

I thought I saw somewhere the og thing is randomly picked. So no "DDS would never choose traf" type stuff. I'll take a second look see if I can see where I read that.

Im inclined to think Charles could be speaking the truth about the alledged total memory loss of the first Thing game. But still i'd like to see the outcome of the test first. Better be sure.

I have way more problems with Traf claiming the exact same Thing...

First post: 21 Sep,: “So i can't remember the math in this setting, we need to torch someone fast or no. how does it work with 10”

Traf not remembering a thing? Yeah right... No. Its just very convenient to claim that he doesnt remember so he does not need to explain anything.. and as a result does not need to post anything in order to do so...and by doing that he can keep utter silence unquestioned..

Im clean. But i understand thats my point of view and not town's.

The non-participation of Traf is anti science team whether he is or not and justifies the lynch by all means.

Please can we BT sonic

There are 3 plays he has made that merit testing him D1

1. Self vote
2. He played the you are suspicious for browsing the game without posting anything card
3. When all were asked who they would have recruited D0 he gave the full list

The downside of bt on sonic is he would be excellent as a recruit choice, and if uninfected i would want him to remain uninfected.
My play offer gambit on that concern is right now i will lock in my (assuming i dont get flamed) D3 bt vote on Sonic. And only a to break a deadlock appeal from sonic on d3 bt will be capable of switching my vote.
That i figure would make infected think twice about infecting an uninfected sonic n1 or n2.

We need to BT before lynch.

But after 1 week it would be wise we get working on who to lynch aswell.

Because, by math, there is 80% chance the BT will result negative

Oh my word!! Why would you lynch before we have a BT? I am happy with a BT on me, get on with it, but please unvote the lynch on Traf for now, we are going to loose that one advantage we have to get a BT result which is vital for future, whether it is positive or negative.

Test me, or test Traf, or test Sonic for that matter, but Test first before we lynch.

So if those are the choices, we have, and I cannot BT myself:

Thinking of it, those who jumps on the bandwagon so early to get a lynch before a BT are seriously on my Scum list for now.

LC has some valid points - we should think about who we would have picked to infect. and based on last game, chances are it wouldn't be LC. sonic might actually be high on the list. not sure if he's the one i would pick, but would definitely consider him

for now.... Unvote
And Rag turned out to be wolf..

So a battle has a purpose.

I stopped engaging Rag because of too much flood level yes (but i wish i hadn't because you know..., he turned out to be wolf..).

Same goes here, except gut feeling now says Loose is town. Just making extra sure by engaging a bit more.
good point. it was the combativeness that got my attention but i forgot you were right in who you singled out
annieh wrote: Fri Sep 25, 2026 10:33 am I think in the end I think it's homer for me.
so this is funny.. because after i posted thursday night, i was thinking about who i would infect if i was the OGT. and my conclusion was you because you're extremely active and i don't think i've ever seen a single post of suspicion about you. which makes you unique in these games. and i'm not just saying that because you picked me. i swear on my future dice roles that i'm being honest here :D

me on the other hand seem to be someone everybody is on the fence about every game.

Back to normal now. Sorry DDS for the warnings
Sooo you had no electricity for 3 days, and because of no electricity you had no internet.. Makes sense!

And because you had no internet you could not log in and post something.. Makes sense!

But without electricity and no internet.., how did you manage to take all those game turns then in the last 3 days?

Game 24737825 2026-09-26 04:55:30 - TrafalgarLaw01 received 1 troops for holding ?
Game 24770356 2026-09-25 15:53:10 - TrafalgarLaw01 reinforced ? with 2 troops from ?
Game 24770355 2026-09-25 15:52:20 - TrafalgarLaw01 reinforced ? with 2 troops from ?
Game 24770354 2026-09-25 15:50:43 - TrafalgarLaw01 deployed 6 troops on ?
and on and on...

Makes no sense
i love this detective work. the effort to go check his games is great. and although i said that i probably wouldn't have picked you as my D0 infection, you do have a knack for this kind of thing, which would be a reason to want you on my side if i was the Thing.

and i don't think that traf's post should be enough to not get him replaced. to have already missed the deadline to post, get an extension out of the goodness of DDS's heart, and then pop in with a "sorry i haven't posted" and basically nothing else... not really a contribution there.

why are we already talking lynch? we need a blood test first. to get half way to a lynch already is crazy. and we aren't pressed for time. there's been no mention of when D1 is ending (unless i missed it? i'll be honest.. i've had a few drinks and about 3/4s of the way through page 6 i started skimming rather than reading). but i think we still have time.

i don't think we need to BT traf. based on track record, i would never pick him to infect, and i don't think any rational player would. i'm good with either hjelp or charle, if we can come to a concensus on them. both are in the camp of "not really suspicious, but not ruled out either", IMO

I totally get your love of the detective work Homer
I like the rest of your post too.

What I would say is on Sonic, stand back and applaud the wouldbe Genius of his detective work on Traf if Sonic is currently infected.
Finding a credible reason to appear to be suspicious/throw suspicion on others when you are bad sided is one of the most difficult things of all if you are bad sided.
His work is still pretty damned clever if Sonic is good sided.
Both are within his scope of capabilities I would say.

@Loose : im town.

You seem to have this fixed idea about me being Thing..

Perhaps because you read everything i post with that mindset (with "SoN!c is Thing" glasses). In that case, reread the thread with town glasses on me.

Whatever you do. Just follow your gut feeling.

Now, everybody else stop with lynch votes (on Traf). With 3 votes we are ready (prepared) enough.

First we need to BT and now is the time. .

Homer wants to choose between Charle of Hjelp. So lets sub Hjelp for Traf on bloodtest (my own proposal which doesn't get much traction either) and lets choose one of 3?

Because: I feel like, if we don't narrow the choice for BT down to 3, we are going nowhere it seems? Does anybody else have that feeling?
