No.
Fair enough. If you feel the need to show the world what a big man you are by swearing in front of little girls, that's your choice.
Oh for f*ck's sakes. The little girls hear their parents swearing on a regular basis. Do you think you're protecting them from some hidden monster?
Perhaps they do; perhaps they are parents who, like mine, chose not to swear in front of their children. Obviously I grew up in a different era - no-one had said the F-word on television until 3 years after I was born (the events were unconnected, I should add :) ) - but would it be right for such a child to come across their first swear words here, rather than from their parents?

Oh joy, moral grandstanding and virtue signaling.
If people are really worried about foul language on a forum no one uses anymore, then they have some warped priorities.

So...shit, piss, f*ck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker and tits.

Predictably immature responses. Perhaps you are at the same level as a 10 year old.

As far as growing up in a different era, I don't know your exact age, but I suspect I'm older than you.

I grew up when we still had corporal punishment in schools, and yes, I got the strap a multitude of times. None of them were for swearing, but one was for incorporating a very mild faecal joke into a cartoon I was drawing in art class. I thought that was very unfair.

Come to think of it, one of my strappings was for circulating a copy of a pornographic poem, although I was not the author of the poem and just passing it on.

And yes, although it never happened to me, I saw a girl named Faye hauled up in front of the class and get her mouth washed out with soap. They made her wear an artists' smock, so that after she puked she didn't get her clothes dirty. I forget what her offense was, but I'm sure it was something very benign by modern standards.

I would never have dreamed of swearing in front of a teacher, to be sure. But Conquer Club is not a fucking school.

I've been a member here for 16 years, a moderator for 14 of those 16 years, and I've probably had a thousand conversations about what is and isn't appropriate on this site. The metaphor that I lean on is that the closest real-world equivalent is a pub. We come in here, we order a pint, we lean back and start spewing our favourite theories about life, the universe, and everything. I try to keep a civil tongue, but when the occasional swear word sneaks in, I don't get excited about it.

That simple.

I'm 64 BTW.
I take your point, but if you think of it as a pub, it's not going to attract families with young children inside (I know some are allowed to drink outside, and they even have play areas). I'm well aware that most people swear, and I'm sure children swear far more than we used to or were allowed to, but it has the potential to put some people off - the same way that being rude or condescending to new members may do (which thankfully does seem to have calmed down a bit). All I'm trying to do is remove as many impediments to the site as possible in order to attract and retain new members.
Would it perhaps be an acceptable compromise to avoid (and remove) swearing from the titles of forum posts?

I support this notion. NOTE that Apatheist and I do not agree on much, so THIS is significant.
